We have partnered with\u00a0<em>The Wits Radio Academy, a centre of training, research and public engagement in the field of radio.\u00a0<\/em>The Academy works with the university\u2019s campus station,\u00a0<em>Voice of Wits<\/em>\u00a088.1FM in the heart of Braamfontein.<\/p>\n<p>The two interns will rotate every 6 weeks between both organizations for a period of 12 months. Interns will be required to travel between Jacaranda FM (Midrand) and Wits (JHB). Interns should not be committed to other fields of study because they will be required to complete a radio journalism course.<\/p>\n<p>The internship is designed to ensure that learning takes place in the various aspects and operations of a newsroom and interns, effective January 2019 to December 2019 and offers a monthly basic stipend.<\/p>\n<p><strong>At Jacaranda, interns will develop skills in the following areas:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist in various areas of the news department, thereby learning the practical skills involved<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the general operations of a newsroom<\/li>\n<li>Assist journalists in the compilation of their stories<\/li>\n<li>Report from the field as well as work on the news desk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>At VowFM, interns will develop skills in the following areas:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Compile and read daily bulletins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Report from the field<\/li>\n<li>Package stories for current affairs programmes<\/li>\n<li>Be actively involved in the day to day news and current affairs programming<\/li>\n<li>Update social media with news content<\/li>\n<li>Interns will be required to undertake short courses with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.journalism.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Radio-Academy-Courses-2018-v2.pdf\">Wits Radio Academy<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>So what do you need?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Qualification in Journalism or related field (Bachelors\u2019 Degree or 3 year National Diploma)<\/li>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s licence or in the process of obtaining one<\/li>\n<li>Good command of the English language, Preferably bilingual in Afrikaans and English<\/li>\n<li>Quality writing and voicing scripts for radio<\/li>\n<li>Check facts, accuracy and quality of stories<\/li>\n<li>Operating studio and field recording and production equipment<\/li>\n<li>Minimal editing and multi-track mixing experience needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>APPLICATION DEADLINE:\u00a06 DECEMBER 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>EMAIL:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"mailto:Lerato.makate@wits.ac.za\"><strong>LERATO.MAKATE@WITS.AC.ZA<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>EMAIL SUBJECT TITLE: JACA\/WITS RADIO ACADEMY 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applicants should submit a motivational letter of 250 words outlining why they would be a good fit for the position alongside a CV with three contactable references<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jacaranda FM\u00a0has a highly exciting opportunity available!
