The remuneration will be commensurate with qualification and experience<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Constitutional and public interest litigation and legal drafting<\/li>\n<li>Advocacy, networking and presentations at seminars and conferences<\/li>\n<li>Supervising and training of candidate attorneys and paralegals<\/li>\n<li>Legal research in specified LRC focus areas<\/li>\n<li>Drafting submissions to Parliament and regional and international mechanisms<\/li>\n<li>Conducting small group and individual interviews<\/li>\n<li>Establishing and maintaining contact with communities and ensuring that effective modes of communication within communities exist or are created for the dissemination of information<\/li>\n<li>Reporting and compliance<\/li>\n<li>Excellent legal writing, research and communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong advocacy and litigation skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work well under pressure, independently and with others<\/li>\n<li>Ability to network with partner organisations and donors<\/li>\n<li>A commitment to strengthening public interest legal practice and transformation within the legal profession<\/li>\n<li>A commitment to staff development and teamwork<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Admission as a practising attorney, preferably with right of appearance in the High Courts of South Africa<\/li>\n<li>An LLM degree in a human rights \/ international law related field will be an advantage<\/li>\n<li>1-5 years\u2019 experience in constitutional and public interest litigation. (Experience in socio-economic rights litigation, including housing, evictions, land, and the constitutional impacts of institutional lending, will be an advantage.)<\/li>\n<li>Displayed human rights \/ socio-economic rights background at the domestic, regional or international level<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in two official South African languages, including English<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to travel within and outside of the Republic<\/li>\n<li>Valid Driver\u2019s licence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The LRC is committed to transformation; applications from previously disadvantaged candidates are therefore strongly encouraged.\u00a0To apply, please email: (1) a motivational letter; (2) your CV with copies of qualifications; (3) a writing sample of less than 10 pages on housing and evictions jurisprudence in South Africa; and (4) two contactable references to:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:caroline@lrc.org.za\">caroline@lrc.org.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Closing date: <\/strong>14 December 2018<\/p>\n<p>Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
