{"id":44295,"date":"2019-01-16T10:40:11","date_gmt":"2019-01-16T08:40:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=44295"},"modified":"2019-01-14T14:48:02","modified_gmt":"2019-01-14T12:48:02","slug":"choc-childhood-cancer-foundation-sa-new-available-position","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/choc-childhood-cancer-foundation-sa-new-available-position.html","title":{"rendered":"CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA New Available Position"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation is the only organisation in South Africa that provides comprehensive countrywide support for children with cancer and other life-threatening blood disorders, and their families.<\/p>\n<p>In developed countries childhood cancer has largely become curable, with the overall survival rate reaching between 70% and 80% or higher whilst in South Africa the rate is closer to 50%. CHOC aims to ensure that more children in South Africa are cured and that the survival rate goes up.<\/p>\n<p>For close on four decades our holistic approach has evolved to ensure children are diagnosed early, access paediatric oncologist care, and are supported throughout the lengthy treatment phase, which can last up to three years. CHOC also promotes early detection and plays a leading advocacy role.<\/p>\n<p>Without CHOC, many children \u2013 particularly those from low-income households living far from treatment centres \u2013 would not adhere to the necessary but arduous treatment path.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position:\u00a0CHOC COWS Coordinator<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Base and Coverage: <\/strong>National Office (NO) with national coverage<br \/>\n<strong>Report to:<\/strong>\u00a0COW Committee, and to the CHOC CEO<br \/>\n<strong>Start Date:<\/strong>\u00a001 April 2019<br \/>\n<strong>Remuneration:<\/strong> R 26 000 \u2013 R 30 000 per month (Depending on the experience)<br \/>\n<strong>Benefits:<\/strong> Medical Aid and Pension Fund<br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Johannesburg, Rivonia<br \/>\n<strong>Job Level:\u00a0<\/strong>Mid\/Senior<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose:<\/strong> To raise funds for CHOC through the coordination and management of donors who participate as Cows in various sporting events country-wide.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>General and Fundraising:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To nurture and expand existing relationships and fundraising opportunities relating to sporting \/ Cow events, and to ensure that these relationships \/ opportunities are effectively managed and maintained.<\/li>\n<li>To identify and open up new sporting events The Cows can participate in.<\/li>\n<li>To manage relationships with donors (Cows and Cow Teams) and other key stakeholders (such as sporting associations)\u00a0.<\/li>\n<li>To expand The Cows nationally, ensuring that wherever Cows may be in the country they feel part of The Cows and are fully supported.<\/li>\n<li>To establish stable and comprehensive administrative and communication processes for The Cows nationally.<\/li>\n<li>Develop fundraising requests and reports in line with sponsor requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Provide feedback to:\n<ul>\n<li>The Cow Committee on an ad hoc basis;<\/li>\n<li>The Cow Working Committee and the CEO who meet on a monthly basis; and<\/li>\n<li>CHOC, via the CEO.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>To promote and market CHOC and The Cows through various channels and activities (including through the media, social media, newsletters and promotional events).<\/li>\n<li>To oversee the input and management of data on the CRM database.<\/li>\n<li>To ensure that there are no unnecessary impediments to a positive relationship between CHOC and The Cows.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Events and Campaigns:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The planning and implementation of high return fundraising events for The Cows.<\/li>\n<li>Participation of The Cows in national CHOC campaigns &#8211; at a national and regional level as applicable.<\/li>\n<li>Effective and efficient coordination, financial and other management of all Cow functions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Donor Care and Communications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare The Cows newsletters and other communication pieces to be distributed, as agreed with The Cow Working Committee or The Cow Chair in co-ordination as required with the CEO and\/or BDU Manager.<\/li>\n<li>To ensure that all Cow Communication channels and platforms, including the website, Facebook, Twitter etc. are maintained and have updated content at all times.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all donations are acknowledged and thanked within 48 hours of receipt.<\/li>\n<li>To effectively manage public relations matters relating to The Cows, including but not only, press releases, interviews and regular communications (such as e-mails).<\/li>\n<li>Internal communication &#8211; to keep The Cows informed of relevant CHOC information and news and (vice versa) to keep CHOC informed of relevant Cow information and news.<\/li>\n<li>The management of the various donation portals (GivenGain, other online funding platforms, Snapscan, etc).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Liaison, tracking and coordination of all Cows and Cow Teams.<\/li>\n<li>To ensure that the \u201cCow stampede\u201d report is updated on a regular basis.<\/li>\n<li>To participate and provide feedback at all Cow Committee and Cow Working Committee meetings.<\/li>\n<li>To work collaboratively with the CEO and BDU Manager to ensure that marketing materials appropriately address the purpose of CHOC and The Cows.<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for the management and oversight of The Cows merchandise and kit, including ordering, sourcing preferential suppliers, stock taking and distribution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Grade 12 and a diploma or degree. A degree\/diploma in marketing or related qualification related to event management or project management, is preferred.<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s essential that the applicant has a proven track record in event management, preferably in raising funds from sporting events and\/or from corporates; with a minimum of 5 years such experience.<\/li>\n<li>Must have an understanding of sporting events, sporting culture and preferably be the type of person who participates in sports events on a regular basis.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in written communication, such as marketing proposals, newsletters and the like.
