IRJ is\u00a0an independent organisation located at the interface between civil society and academia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Head of Fundraising and Communications<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Cape Town<br \/>\n<strong>Reports to:\u00a0<\/strong>Executive Director<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the Head of Fundraising and Communications is to own, develop, optimise and drives all fundraising and communications processes of the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR).<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>Departmental leadership<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and communicate department\u2019s annual targets and work plan<\/li>\n<li>Manage efficient implementation of department\u2019s work plan, including leading team through unexpected circumstances<\/li>\n<li>Support professional development of departmental staff<\/li>\n<li>Represent department within the IJR and externally<\/li>\n<li>Actively mentor and coach staff<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fundraising strategy<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop, revise and communicate the IJR\u2019s multi-year fundraising plan<\/li>\n<li>Ensure alignment of annual fundraising plan with multi-year fundraising plan<\/li>\n<li>Ensure alignment of annual fundraising plan with annual project plan<\/li>\n<li>Identify and create cutting edge Fundraising techniques and ideas<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the Executive Director is aware on fundraising targets and shortfalls<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fundraising management<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist Executive Director in building and maintaining donor relationships (new and existing).<\/li>\n<li>Oversee all fundraising activities allocated to strategy and fundraising department<\/li>\n<li>Supervises and coordinates all donor reporting and donor relationships<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Project Management<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Actively drive fundraising processes aligned to general IJR strategy<\/li>\n<li>Develop an annual fundraising strategy and work plan for your programme including deliverables and deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Hands on management and responsibility for all aspects of the projects<\/li>\n<li>Actively facilitate opportunities for cross-programme collaboration<\/li>\n<li>Develop proposals and produce reports for the funders<\/li>\n<li>Interpret and analyse programmes, providing relevant high-quality feedback and input to appropriate stakeholders and policy makers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Project Reporting<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Produce reports based on progress of projects.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the development and implementation of the overall IJR strategy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Business Development<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accountable for business development research to investigate potential income generation and establish an income generation pipeline<\/li>\n<li>Generate new business for income generation via product development, sales pitches, market scanning, and product offerings<\/li>\n<li>Assist programmes and project in development of bids, proposals and accountable for the submission of the final proposals<\/li>\n<li>Draft, coordinate and submit bids<\/li>\n<li>Develop and implement an IJR business development strategy in coordination with the ED and Head of Finance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Media, Social media and internet presence<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop, revise and communicate the IJR\u2019s media and social media strategy annually<\/li>\n<li>Subscribe to relevant media and stay informed of developments in areas of interest to IJR<\/li>\n<li>Supervise the implementation of IJR\u2019s media and social media strategy<\/li>\n<li>Supervise that internal processes are followed and implementation to protect IJR\u2019s image<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Internal communication<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and support measures to strengthen internal communication<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Branding &amp; Marketing<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee development and update of IJR brand material within budget<\/li>\n<li>Develop various communication methods to promote IJR\u2019s brand<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Communication and Fundraising M&amp;E<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Continuous monitoring of fundraising M&amp;E results and of corrective action\u00a0taken by KPI owners<\/li>\n<li>Continuous monitoring of communication M&amp;E results and initiating corrective action<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tertiary degree, preferably at a Master\u2019s Degree level, and\/or equivalent working experience in a business development field (e.g. Business Administration, Industrial Management, Finance, and Economics)<\/li>\n<li>Proven track-record of securing funding from international development agencies, governments and corporations is essential<\/li>\n<li>Leadership abilities and strong communication skills (verbal and written)<\/li>\n<li>Long-term and process-oriented thinking<\/li>\n<li>Creativity to identify strategic and fundraising opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Critical thinking to identify strategic and fundraising risks<\/li>\n<li>Collaborative behaviour to engage IJR colleagues and external
