{"id":44832,"date":"2019-02-21T10:59:42","date_gmt":"2019-02-21T08:59:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=44832"},"modified":"2019-02-21T12:33:20","modified_gmt":"2019-02-21T10:33:20","slug":"cornerstone-institute-recent-job-opportunity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/cornerstone-institute-recent-job-opportunity.html","title":{"rendered":"Cornerstone Institute Recent Job Opportunity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cornerstone Institute is an independent, not-for-profit higher education institution\u00a0engaged in teaching and learning in service of others, to advance human dignity and social justice for all.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Online Learning Technologist<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Position: <\/strong>Cape Town<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the professional and effective management of Funda, Cornerstone\u2019s online learning platform, and the training of users on the system.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead in the maintenance and development of Cornerstone Institute\u2019s online learning systems, beyond the use of Funda<\/li>\n<li>Coach lecturers and students on the use of Funda, including but not limited to:<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Orientating and training lecturers and students on the use of the online learning platform and related software (including the development of relevant material)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Providing ongoing assistance for lecturers and the Students Services department with various software and online platform related issues<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Providing ongoing development of best practice in relation to the online platform and related software<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Attending to helpdesk\/ad hoc queries<\/li>\n<li>Work as part of the online teaching and learning team to ensure and improve the overall quality of online learning at Cornerstone Institute<\/li>\n<li>Manage Funda (Sakai), the online academic platform, including, but not limited to:\n<ul>\n<li>Setting up sites for lecturers<\/li>\n<li>Creating and maintain users<\/li>\n<li>Facilitating the transfer of grades from Funda to the Registrar<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with maintaining content on Funda<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with the Admissions Officer and HR department regarding the addition of new users to Funda<\/li>\n<li>Assist the Online Learning and Teaching Specialist with other online learning tasks<\/li>\n<li>Assist IT in maintaining updates and upgrades on the operating system (Linux) platform<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Relevant NQF Level 7 qualification (NQF Level 8 would be a distinct advantage)<\/li>\n<li>Relevant experience in online learning systems, training (online and in person) and administrative and technical services<\/li>\n<li>Experience with the Sakai Virtual Learning Environment would be a distinct advantage (Funda).<\/li>\n<li>Experience with working with Turnitin<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of Html and Linux (any distribution) would be a distinct advantage<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of the South African Higher Education Environment<\/li>\n<li>Ability to train and help people from varying technological backgrounds<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with all levels of the Cornerstone Institute community<\/li>\n<li>An enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with the ability to work autonomously or in a team in a pressurised environment<\/li>\n<li>Interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate others<\/li>\n<li>Ability to think creatively and explore new technologies that could aid in achieving CI\u2019s mission and vision<\/li>\n<li>High Level of organisational skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to problem solve, multitask and to maintain confidentiality<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply, submit your CV along with a covering letter outline your suitability for the post, notice period and salary requirements to<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:andreweneb@cornerstone.ac.za\">andreweneb@cornerstone.ac.za<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Only applicants in South Africa, Cape Town will be considered.<\/p>\n<p>Cornerstone hopes to get back to all applications, however If you have not heard from us within six weeks of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>8th March, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cornerstone Institute is an independent, not-for-profit higher education institution\u00a0engaged in teaching and learning in service of others, to advance human dignity and social justice for all.
