{"id":44837,"date":"2019-02-21T11:38:58","date_gmt":"2019-02-21T09:38:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=44837"},"modified":"2019-02-21T11:52:16","modified_gmt":"2019-02-21T09:52:16","slug":"minds-diamond-empowerment-fund-scholarship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/minds-diamond-empowerment-fund-scholarship.html","title":{"rendered":"MINDS: Diamond Empowerment Fund Scholarship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Mandela Institute for Development Studies (MINDS) has partnered with the Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF) to establish the first in a series of Diamond Empowerment Fund Scholarships.\u00a0The Fund was inspired by Nelson Mandela who encouraged DEF\u2019s co-founders to tell the world the positive impact Africa\u2019s diamonds were having in building healthy and educated communities on the continent.<\/p>\n<p>MINDS\u2019 unique approach develops Pan-African leaders who have a lived understanding and experience on the continent and who, in turn, can facilitate regional economic integration and social cohesion.\u00a0\u00a0DEF is interested in contributing to creating a pool of young leaders committed to playing a critical role in achieving a more integrated African economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe\u00a0Diamond Empowerment Fund Scholarshipwill contribute to creating a labour force with specialist skills required for the 21<sup>st<\/sup>century, through the continent\u2019s higher education system, which meets the continent\u2019s socio-economic needs,\u201d says MINDS Executive Chair and Founding Trustee, Mrs\u00a0Gra\u00e7a Machel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to be partnering with MINDS and to continue the legacy of giving back to the very communities where diamonds are found\u201d, says DEF President Anna Martin.<\/p>\n<p>The MINDS Diamond Empowerment Fund Scholarship will be earmarked for students from a diamond producing country whose chosen post-graduate study will be in a field that meets the needs for improving the quality of life for Africans.
