ES 14\/12<\/p>\n<p>These contractual posts are for learner technicians who are in possession of an S4 diploma OR those who still require in-service training to obtain their S4 diplomas in the following disciplines:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Protection<\/strong>\u00a0(HV &amp; MV field services, projects design and settings, performance audit)<\/li>\n<li><strong>telecommunication<\/strong>\u00a0(optic fibre network &amp; multiplexers, telephone exchanges &amp; cables, wide &amp; local area network, radios and microwave)<\/li>\n<li><strong>measurement<\/strong>\u00a0(laboratory, automation, quality, operations, construction and investigations)<\/li>\n<li><strong>transmission systems development<\/strong>\u00a0(planning and design of high-voltage sub-stations and specification of HV cable, power transformers and switchgear, project management)<\/li>\n<li><strong>distribution systems development<\/strong>\u00a0(planning and design of medium-voltage distribution systems and project management)<\/li>\n<li><strong>distribution<\/strong>\u00a0(medium 11kV and low-voltage distribution system maintenance and construction)<\/li>\n<li><strong>civil<\/strong>\u00a0(knowledge of facilities, sub-stations, approval of plans, estimates, scoping of work, tender adjudication, writing of tender specifications, CAD for drawings, supervision of site works, closing off of construction work)<\/li>\n<li><strong>mechanical<\/strong>\u00a0(power station plant maintenance, gas turbine and hydroelectric)<\/li>\n<li>SCADA (remote control and communications)<\/li>\n<li><strong>high-voltage cables<\/strong>\u00a0(operations and maintenance of support systems, technology and resources)<\/li>\n<li><strong>highvoltage sub-stations<\/strong>\u00a0(operations and maintenance support systems, technology and resources)<\/li>\n<li><strong>vending systems<\/strong>: operations and maintenance of support systems and technology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong>\u00a0A successfully completed S4 course in the related field (in-service training still needed) or an S4 diploma \u2022 a valid code B driver\u2019s licence preferred \u2022 residency in the Cape Metropole.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To apply for one of these positions, please submit an official application form<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>indicating your field of preference (i.e. SCADA, Measurement, etc.), a certified<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>copy of your ID, your CV, and certified copies of your driver\u2019s licence, S4 diploma<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>(or statement of results indicating that in-service training is outstanding for the S4<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>diploma to be awarded).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Please Note:<\/strong>\u00a0All applicants meeting the minimum requirements will be undergoing an assessment \u2022 preference will be given to candidates who qualify and require in-service training to obtain their S4 diploma \u2022 if you have not received a response within three weeks of the closing date, please consider your application as unsuccessful.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Cape Town<br \/>\n<strong>Organisation:<\/strong>\u00a0City of Cape Town<br \/>\n<strong>Closing Date:<\/strong>\u00a002 March 2012<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please forward your application to<\/strong>:<strong><a href=\"mailto:Electricity.Services@capetown.gov.za\" target=\"_blank\">Electricity.Services@capetown.gov.za<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Closing Date:<\/strong>\u00a02 March 2012<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LEARNER TECHNICIANS (10 x 1-year Contracts) Basic Salary:\u00a0R96 748 p.a. \u2022 Ref.
