Implement the Advocacy Programme and be responsible for advocating and lobbying for changes, legal reform in laws and policies affecting sex workers in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><br \/>\nManage the Decriminalisation of Sex Work Campaign, which involves:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage a team of staff and coordinating a civil society working group which contributes to the campaign<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate parliamentary lobbying engagements and correspondence with parliamentarians and influential players in government and civil society<\/li>\n<li>Identify and manage emergent strategic opportunities policy and otherwise to push the campaign forward<\/li>\n<li>Formulate and manage a visibility strategy, including direct action, media monitoring and media responses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The position is a management level and involves:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supervise six staff members<\/li>\n<li>Participate in senior management activities, processes and decisions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Relevant degree in humanities and\/or law<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of five years of experience of working in the non-profit field (with gender\/women, health or human rights)<\/li>\n<li>Experience in working with sex workers<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of the law (demonstrated in academic or experiential terms) and especially as it pertains to sex work<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to write and articulate human rights arguments<\/li>\n<li>Management Level experience and supervision of others<\/li>\n<li>Experience and knowledge in policy level processes and human rights defence processes will be highly advantageous<\/li>\n<li>Must be computer literate and able to communicate effectively through information technology<\/li>\n<li>Networking skills and ability to form and use strategic alliances<\/li>\n<li>Civil society campaign skills and experience<\/li>\n<li>Media advocacy skills<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience advocating for rights of minority groups<\/li>\n<li>Ability to strategies and implement the components of the Advocacy Strategic Plan as well as constant revision thereof according to operational requirements<\/li>\n<li>Goal and results orientated including the ability to produce work within agreed upon time frames so that output targets are met<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit a CV, contact details of two referees and motivation letter to:<br \/>\nEmily Craven:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:emilyc@sweat.org.za\">emilyc@sweat.org.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Wednesday, 17 April, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Sex Worker Education and Advocacy Task Force (SWEAT) is a nonprofit that works to ensure that sex workers rights are defended, that they have access to health and other&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1353,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[178,89,243],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 -
