It is both a centre for research excellence and a home for stimulating public debate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Job Title: Operations Manager for the Youth Programmes <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Job Location: <\/strong>Johannesburg, South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reference number: <\/strong>\u00a0(OMYP04\/19)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Duration:<\/strong> one-year contract<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reports to:<\/strong> The Head of Youth Programmes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the position is to manage the operational and financial functions of&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:Youth@SAIIA\">Youth@SAIIA<\/a>\u2019s growing programmes. The successful applicant must be able to manage a complex and multi-faceted workload.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Operational Management<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Develop and implement effective administration procedures for&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:Youth@SAIIA\">Youth@SAIIA<\/a>&nbsp;programmes, events and activities<\/li><li>Oversee and provide support for logistics and coordination of large events, meetings and conferences hosted by&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:Youth@SAIIA\">Youth@SAIIA<\/a><\/li><li>Be responsible for managing donor reports and ensuring, together with the Head of Youth Programmes, that&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:Youth@SAIIA\">Youth@SAIIA<\/a>\u2019s Monitoring and Evaluation requirements are met<\/li><li>Keep all role players informed of initiatives, activities, work plans (external and internal)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Financial Management<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Manage accounting and financial internal control systems for&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:Youth@SAIIA\">Youth@SAIIA<\/a>\u2019s programmes<\/li><li>Work together with the SAIIA Finance Department and Head of Youth Programmes to ensure compliance with donor financial requirements and SAIIA\u2019s financial processes<\/li><li>Provide support to the Head of Youth Programmes (and sometimes deputise for her) in strategic planning, marketing and fundraising<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>A relevant degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience<\/li><li>A minimum of five years of experience in managing small to large-scale projects in a developing country context<\/li><li>Demonstrated experience with financial management tools and systems, including proficiency with Excel<\/li><li>Demonstrated written, presentation, communication and organisational skills in English<\/li><li>Planning and organisational skills<\/li><li>Management and interpersonal skills and able to work with a diverse team<\/li><li>Driver\u2019s licence and own vehicle<\/li><li>Substantial work experience, ideally in a not for profit organisation<\/li><li>Experience in working with national and international donors<\/li><li>Experience in writing grant proposals and donor reports<\/li><li>Proficiency in either Portuguese or French<\/li><li>Demonstrated ability to manage multi-stakeholder relationships with important groups such as the United Nations system, diplomatic community, civil society and national government<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To <\/strong><g class=\"gr_ gr_11 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace\" id=\"11\" data-gr-id=\"11\"><strong>apply<\/strong><\/g><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submit a motivational letter quoting clearly the reference number of the position that they are applying for and a comprehensive CV, together with the contact details of three referees to Shannon Gard (<a href=\"mailto:Shannon.gard@wits.ac.za\"><strong>Shannon.gard@wits.ac.za<\/strong><\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> Tuesday, 30 April, 2019 <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) is an independent, non-government think-tank with the purpose to encourage wider and more informed awareness of the importance of international affairs.
