{"id":46216,"date":"2019-04-18T12:51:11","date_gmt":"2019-04-18T10:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=46216"},"modified":"2019-04-18T12:51:11","modified_gmt":"2019-04-18T10:51:11","slug":"hospice-palliative-care-association-of-south-africa-hpca-available-job-opportunity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/hospice-palliative-care-association-of-south-africa-hpca-available-job-opportunity.html","title":{"rendered":"Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa (HPCA) Available Job Opportunity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa (HPCA) is a national organisation operating in all nine provinces in South Africa with 134 members and affiliated hospices countrywide.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Lay Counsellors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Location: <\/strong>Nelspruit, Mpumalanga<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this position is to provide testing and counselling services and become an integral part of the broader comprehensive care and treatment program in a non-Clinical site and\/or community that links the community into care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Implement Targeted Community HIV Testing Services<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HIV pre-test, post-test counselling<\/li>\n<li>Adherence counselling<\/li>\n<li>Conduct Index Testing and Mobile testing<\/li>\n<li>Give health education on health-related issues<\/li>\n<li>Give support to both infected and affected clients<\/li>\n<li>Provide education on HIV, TB and STIs prevention strategies<\/li>\n<li>Participate in organizing HIVAIDS awareness events<\/li>\n<li>Promote HIV counselling, testing and condom use<\/li>\n<li>Conduct screening for TB and STIs<\/li>\n<li>Collect data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Implement Active Referral and Linkage to Care<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Refer and link all new HIV, TB STI cases<\/li>\n<li>Link HIV negative patients to preventative service providers<\/li>\n<li>Trace defaulters and link them back to the mainstream<\/li>\n<li>Collect data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Implement Adherence Support\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Facilitate community-based adherence clubs<\/li>\n<li>Introduce a risk reduction plan for clients in the post-test counselling and the adherence support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Matric \/ Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent<\/li>\n<li>Accredited training certificates: Basic HIV information course, Intensive Counselling course and Adherence Counselling course<\/li>\n<li>Finger prick certificate<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate in English and one or more South African language(s) commonly spoken in the Sub-District<\/li>\n<li>Basic knowledge of HIV\/AIDS and TB<\/li>\n<li>Involvement in some aspect of community work will be an added advantage<\/li>\n<li>Clear criminal record<\/li>\n<li>Minimum one to two years\u2019 experience in HIV Counselling, Finger prick and Intensive Adherence counselling<\/li>\n<li>Interpersonal skills Must be a respected member of the community<\/li>\n<li>Ability to counsel using the ACTS method<\/li>\n<li>Attention to detail<\/li>\n<li>Communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Integrity<\/li>\n<li>Counselling skills<\/li>\n<li>Compassion<\/li>\n<li>Non-judgmental, trustworthy and empathic<\/li>\n<li>Committed and motivated to preventing HIV and supporting people living with HIV<\/li>\n<li>Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit a detailed CV, covering letter and names of three contactable references including email contact to <strong><a href=\"mailto:hr@hpca.co.za\">hr@hpca.co.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Friday, 19 April, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa (HPCA) is a national organisation operating in all nine provinces in South Africa with 134 members and affiliated hospices countrywide.
