It all started in 1938 when the first two orphans were left at the front door of Pastor Gerrie Wessels in Brixton. He took the initiative and the church started a Children&#8217;s Home. And the rest, as they say, is history.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Housemother<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Location:<\/strong> Gauteng<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>House Wees Gerus (Florida)<\/li>\n<li>House Impact (Edenvale)<\/li>\n<li>House Dorandia (Pretoria North)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Salary package includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Salary<\/li>\n<li>Meals and accommodation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Overall management of the day-to-day care of 9 to 12 traumatised children<\/li>\n<li>Overall running and management of a large household<\/li>\n<li>All driving duties for the children within the centre, i.e. school, sport activities, hospital\/ clinic, therapy appointments, etc<\/li>\n<li>In partnership with the social worker, facilitate the CYCC programmes<\/li>\n<li>Regular communication\/ feedback with the relevant stakeholders, including ongoing communication and engagement with the CYCC social worker, regarding the children<\/li>\n<li>All administrative work, regarding the children and the CYCC<\/li>\n<li>Form part of and work effectively within a multi-professional team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Matric<\/li>\n<li>Training\/ Experience in working with children; (Preference will be given to registered Child and Youth Care Workers and those with relevant experience)<\/li>\n<li>Basic computer skills<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in English (and additional SA languages will be an advantage)<\/li>\n<li>Driver\u2019s License and PDP (Experienced drivers will be preferred)<\/li>\n<li>Aged 35 and above<\/li>\n<li>Health (Healthy lifestyle, Non- drinker\/ Non- Smoker)<\/li>\n<li>Preferably married (at least 7 years married)<\/li>\n<li>Willing and able to participate in extensive training<\/li>\n<li>Must have\u00a0passion for and experience in working with children<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit your CV to Lizelle De Bruyn- <strong><a href=\"mailto:afmwelf@rsn.co.za\">afmwelf@rsn.co.za<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0indicate clearly- which area\/ House the application is for<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Friday, 17 May, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The AFM Welfare Council is one of South Africa&#8217;s most successful and long-standing welfare organisations with a proud history.
