They will need to be an experienced and confident teacher who is patient and able to work alongside others to develop their subject knowledge, classroom management and teaching ability. Early literacy and numeracy is going to be a vital element of this role as well as strong relationship building with teachers.<\/p>\n<p>As a Foundation Phase Education Lead, you will be expected to provide coaching to 15-20 Foundation Phase teachers spread across 7 primary schools.\u00a0 Each day this typically involves: a 30 minute drive on gravel roads to a school, followed by observation of classes, providing feedback to teachers, assisting with lesson planning\/preparation and resource management, and a 30 minute drive back to the office for admin and planning in the afternoon.\u00a0 In addition, you will be responsible for bringing teachers from the 7 schools together in Communities of Practice where teachers\u00a0work\u00a0collaboratively to develop resources, plan lessons and improve their teaching.<\/p>\n<p>At Amajinqi PSP you will live and\u00a0work\u00a0with a small team of dedicated professionals, supported by the wider Axium team.\u00a0You will form part of Axium&#8217;s Teacher Coaching team, receiving regular support and development through our international partners 1World (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.1worldschools.org\/about\/our-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.1worldschools.org\/about\/our-team\/<\/a>).\u00a0Applicants should note that the location is remote, only serviced by gravel roads 45 minutes from the town of Willowvale &#8211; so this job is only for the committed and adventurous!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Public School Partnerships (EC) &#8211; Education Specialist (Foundation Phase)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Location: <\/strong>Eastern Cape<\/p>\n<p><strong>Based:\u00a0<\/strong>Amajinqi area (Willowvale) with support from Zithulele.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Full time, starting 9 July 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary: Need to put an amount or state market related amount.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications and skills<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experienced, qualified teacher (minimum 2 years\u2019 experience)<\/li>\n<li>Passionate about improving education outcomes in South Africa.<\/li>\n<li>Strong pedagogical base in isiXhosa literacy<\/li>\n<li>Strong facilitation skills<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with groups of teachers<\/li>\n<li>Proactive and flexible<\/li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal skills with good cultural sensitivity<\/li>\n<li>Computer skills (MS Office)<\/li>\n<li>Rural experience an asset<\/li>\n<li>Drivers licence preferable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Create &amp; support Foundation Phase communities of practice between teachers of partner schools (i.e. teacher networks)<\/li>\n<li>Train teachers and Nobalisa (i.e. locally-based \u2018storytellers\u2019\/literacy coaches) on how to teach reading skills to learners<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate and facilitate regular training sessions with teacher networks on pedagogy and other teaching skills (e.g. Teach Like a Champion)<\/li>\n<li>Identify content gaps and external providers who could assist with training<\/li>\n<li>Work with subject advisors in Foundation Phase<\/li>\n<li>Support teachers in classrooms<\/li>\n<li>Keep records of all teacher interactions<\/li>\n<li>Help coordinate a mobile library (with Nobalisa)<\/li>\n<li>Assist with the making of teacher Aids.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Please email your application including your CV, with references, and a letter of motivation to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:careers@axiumeducation.org\">careers@axiumeducation.org<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Wednesday, 19 June, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This role requires someone who is passionate about long term educational change.
