Established in 1951 and now active in over 440 field locations worldwide, IOM works with partners, government and civil society to promote international cooperation to address operational challenges of migration and mobility, assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems, and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Migration Health Nurse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Location: <\/strong>South Africa<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vacancy\/Reference Number:<\/strong>\u00a0VNSA2019-05<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position Grade:\u00a0<\/strong>G5 (UN Salary Scale for General Staff)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Appointment Type:\u00a0<\/strong>One year fixed term contract, with possibility of extension<\/p>\n<p><strong>Estimated Start Date:\u00a0<\/strong>As soon as possible<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform daily nursing activities in the Migration Health Assessment Clinic (MHAC) to fulfil the technical requirements of the resettlement countries in the areas of:<\/li>\n<li>Medical examinations<\/li>\n<li>Such as checking vital signs, weight, height, visual acuity<\/li>\n<li>Blood, urine or sputum collection as required<\/li>\n<li>Imaging<\/li>\n<li>Laboratory testing<\/li>\n<li>Vaccinations<\/li>\n<li>TB management<\/li>\n<li>Treatment and referrals<\/li>\n<li>Pre-departure procedures and medical movements<\/li>\n<li>Documentation, certification and information transmission<\/li>\n<li>Other technical areas as may be required<\/li>\n<li>Provide information and detailed explanations to the migrants and\/or refugees in relation to:<\/li>\n<li>The migration health assessment process<\/li>\n<li>Treatments and referrals<\/li>\n<li>Ensure proper identification and follow-up by:<\/li>\n<li>Comprehensive history taking<\/li>\n<li>Accurate and thorough Bio-data collection<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring ID verification for each step of the health assessment process<\/li>\n<li>Keeping a register of applicants who undergo health investigations and testing<\/li>\n<li>Follow and implement the Health Assessment Programme\u2019s check lists and SOP\u2019s and maintain standard universal precautions within MHAC<\/li>\n<li>Verify samples of sputum, blood or others are properly transported to the laboratory or previously designated location<\/li>\n<li>Maintain and monitor the MHAC pharmacy, stock, medical kits and emergency kits within the MHAC and for medical escorts if applicable<\/li>\n<li>Provide pre and\/or post counselling to migrants or refugees on TB or HIV education, prevention and management as appropriate<\/li>\n<li>Prepare administrative reports and program updates as necessary<\/li>\n<li>Support the planning and execution of mobile missions if applicable<\/li>\n<li>Assist with pre-departure documents, briefings and preparations as necessary<\/li>\n<li>Perform medical escort duties when required to ensure migrants receive continued care throughout all phases of migration (before departure, during the journey and at the final destination)<\/li>\n<li>Maintain collaborative relationships with various partners to facilitate the follow up and relevant information sharing. Partners include internal IOM departments, other health providers, panel physicians, embassies other UN agencies or NGO\u2019s and others as applicable<\/li>\n<li>Collect statistical information and share with the Senior Migration Health Nurse or CMHO as per preset and agreed upon format<\/li>\n<li>Perform other duties as may be assigned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school Diploma \/ Certificate in Nursing with five years of relevant clinical experience with relevant trainings<\/li>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Nursing with three years of clinical experience<\/li>\n<li>Valid professional license to practice nursing in South Africa<\/li>\n<li>Technical skills, including in phlebotomy<\/li>\n<li>Training or working experience in the areas of Tuberculosis management, mass immunisations, communicable diseases, laboratory testing or public health is an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Work experience with international Organisations is advantageous<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality in performing responsibilities.<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy required: Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access)<br \/>\nFluency in English are required.
