The key principle is to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and are achieving the intended benefits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Programmes Manager will be responsible for ensuring delivery of the following key outputs:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Programme leadership and planning<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<li>Working closely with the Financial Manager, Project\/Programme Managers and the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer<\/li>\n<li>Leading programme design, development and innovation efforts<\/li>\n<li>Leading development of annual programme goals, expected outcomes, outputs, targets and define success of the different projects<\/li>\n<li>Leading a collaborative effort to define programme delivery approaches and performance criteria while ensuring that programmes are aligned with Thembalethu Development and specific funders\u2019 Programme Quality standards.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Contribute to organisational strategy and direction:<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Representing the Programmes team in strategy development processes and ensuring critical outcomes are properly represented and prioritised<\/li>\n<li>Supporting development of strategic partnerships, including representing Thembalethu Development at relevant meetings and events<\/li>\n<li>Producing regular reports on programme performance for the Management Team and Board to inform decision-making<\/li>\n<li>Supporting organisational strategic fundraising and partnership efforts<\/li>\n<li><strong>Systems Development:<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Leading the gradual establishment of a Project Management Office responsible for the management of all Thembalethu Development projects<\/li>\n<li>Overseeing the development and implementation of a project management system<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring the adoption, publication and use of formal project management practices across all projects<\/li>\n<li><strong>Monitoring, Evaluation and Impact Assessment:<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Working with Project Managers and the Monitoring &amp; Evaluation Officer to ensure regular Monitoring and Evaluation of managed projects, including final independent evaluation<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring impact assessment of managed projects<\/li>\n<li><strong>Operational Management<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<li>Acting as principal point of contact for project and programme controls matters<\/li>\n<li>Organising, coaching and motivating project managers and project teams to deliver high quality project controls and deliverables to meet all client requirements<\/li>\n<li>Fostering the evolution of a project controls culture across Thembalethu Development<\/li>\n<li>Fostering and maintaining good relationships with all key stakeholders<\/li>\n<li><strong>Personnel management:<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Recruiting, selecting, and orienting programme staff<\/li>\n<li>Line management of Project\/Programme Managers<\/li>\n<li>Designing and leading training and other capacity-building initiatives for staff in the Programmes Unit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Professional Attributes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Professional and positive approach<\/li>\n<li>Diligent with attention to detail<\/li>\n<li>Ability to cope under pressure<\/li>\n<li>Collaborates well<\/li>\n<li>Dynamic and vigorous<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivated<\/li>\n<li>Team player, and able to work on own initiative<\/li>\n<li>Assertive, adaptable, and creative<\/li>\n<li>Analytic ability<\/li>\n<li>A can do attitude and willingness to go the extra mile when required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Experience and background qualifications required by the Programmes Manager:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A 4-year degree\/NQF Level 7 in a relevant field-Management\/Leadership, Social Development, Monitoring and Evaluation, or a sectoral area such as Agriculture and Economic Development<\/li>\n<li>Project management certification<\/li>\n<li>Experience in working on multiple donor funded programmes<\/li>\n<li>Over 5 years\u2019 direct work experience in a programme\/project management capacity across multiple sectors, both at major project level (delivering project controls) and at programme level (setting up project services functions, processes, systems and providing monitoring, assurance and optimisation services)<\/li>\n<li>Practical experience in national programme management<\/li>\n<li>Experience in the relevant development fields such as economic development, agriculture and social development<\/li>\n<li>Strong familiarity with project management software<\/li>\n<li>Experience in developing and deploying project best practices, policies, procedures, and processes<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience in personnel management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interested candidates are invited to view the application instructions on the Vacancies page at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.actionappointments.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>www.actionappointments.co.za\u00a0<\/strong><\/a> \u00a0and send in applications to<a href=\"mailto:data@actionappointments.co.za\"><strong>data@actionappointments.co.za<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Thursday, 13 June, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THEMBALETHU Development (TD), a Non-Profit Organisation with the aim of becoming the socio-economic development agency of choice for the mining industry, government, the private sector and international donor agencies.
