reading, via advocacy, training, partnerships, and high-quality reading material.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: PR and Event Coordinator\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Location:<\/strong> Mowbray, Cape Town<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conceptualise an annual PR, media and event strategy for amplifying the Nal&#8217;ibali campaign in conjunction with the Senior Communications Officer<\/li>\n<li>Conceptualise, plan, coordinate and execute key flagship events, as well as the accompanying publicity needed to drive these events<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate ongoing media and public relations activities i.e. drafting of press releases, issuing\/placing of releases; follow-up of release placement; arranging of media events and PR opportunities linked to the agreed Communications implementation plan, national days, literacy events or literacy\/education exposure e.g. World Read Aloud Day<\/li>\n<li>Develop and maintain a comprehensive list of media contacts, particularly for community newspapers and radio stations<\/li>\n<li>Help generate and submit stories to relevant community newspapers showcasing the Nal&#8217;ibali network \u2013 partners, clubs,\u00a0and individuals<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate Nal&#8217;ibali spokespersons to appear on radio and TV interviews as requests come in, in consultation with the Senior Communications Officer<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate network of community newspapers and radio stations placing\/airing Nal\u2019ibali content monthly<\/li>\n<li>Monthly production, coordination, and promotion of case studies\/success stories \u2013 either through featured spots on the website, press coverage, learning briefs or Facebook posts<\/li>\n<li>Develop and oversee the annual events calendar in conjunction with the Senior Communications Officer<\/li>\n<li>Identify and create speaking and amplification opportunities for key Nal&#8217;ibali ambassadors on various platforms, including conferences and workshops<\/li>\n<li>Oversee development (including being able to brief a designer on content and layout), production and distribution of an array of marketing and communications collateral<\/li>\n<li>Report accurately and timeously on campaigns, events and media coverage<\/li>\n<li>Work alongside the digital strategist, digital coordinator and community manager when required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Five to ten years&#8217; public relations and\/or marketing experience, preferably gained within an ad agency or nonprofit organisation environment<\/li>\n<li>Relevant degree or diploma in public relations, communications or marketing<\/li>\n<li>Proven ability and experience in event management, from conception to execution<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge and experience of the accompanying public relations functions<\/li>\n<li>Writing skills and the ability to craft a story<\/li>\n<li>Independent, driven and proactive problem solver<\/li>\n<li>Self-starter with a can-do approach to life<\/li>\n<li>The ability to work under pressure<\/li>\n<li>Attention to detail and the ability to multitask<\/li>\n<li>Proficient in Microsoft Office, (Excel and PowerPoint)<\/li>\n<li>Previous NGO experience an advantage<\/li>\n<li>A passion for literacy a distinct advantage<\/li>\n<li>Ability to speak another South African
