FHR is currently implementing a programme in partnership with the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development called Socio-Economic Justice for All (SEJA) which aims at increased awareness, respect, protection and fulfillment of human rights and socio-economic rights for all people. The Foundation seeks to appoint appropriately qualified individuals for its internship programme, based in Parktown, Johannesburg.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Internship Opportunity<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Duration:<\/strong> 6 months, 01 July 2019 \u2013 30 December 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Internship Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Groom those interested and committed to working in strengthening human rights based approaches to building civil society;<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to addressing the problems relating to skills shortage, by increasing the skills level of those entering the labour market;<\/li>\n<li>Improve the chances of employment in the chosen field by enhancing the capacity of the interns, while at the same time and in return, getting some value for the Foundation;<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the job-readiness of interns by exposing them to a practical working experience\/environment;<\/li>\n<li>Inculcate human rights values in interns and strive to ensure that such values become part of their work ethic;<\/li>\n<li>Enhance the capacity of the FHR with an increased number of staff available to take on a range of administrative and programmatic functions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Generic objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate actively in assigned programme work, ensuring that systems, processes and outputs are grounded in FHR values;<\/li>\n<li>Participate in internal communication and teamwork;<\/li>\n<li>Work within the programme team to ensure the effective implementation of organization\u2019s objectives;<\/li>\n<li>As and when required within reason, work beyond the scope of any job description.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working knowledge of and commitment to Human Rights, especially in a South African context;<\/li>\n<li>A postgraduate degree in Social Sciences and Arts \u2013 for example Development Studies, Economics, Political Science, History, Public Policy, Social Science, International Relations, Law and Sociology;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent verbal and written communications skills;<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to take initiative and responsibility for areas of work;<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in English;<\/li>\n<li>Additional language skills and project work experience are a plus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Process:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Submit a CV along with certificates, motivational letter and the details of two contactable referees \u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:Interns2019@fhr.org.za\">Interns2019@fhr.org.za<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The deadline for applications is\u00a0<strong>16 June 2019<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Late and incomplete applications will not be considered for the position<\/li>\n<li>Only suitable qualified candidates will be considered<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> Sunday, 16 June, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Foundation for Human Rights (FHR)\u00a0is a grant making institution supporting civil society organisations in South Africa and the region that implement programmes which promote and protect human rights.
