{"id":47470,"date":"2019-06-20T11:33:47","date_gmt":"2019-06-20T09:33:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=47470"},"modified":"2019-06-20T11:33:47","modified_gmt":"2019-06-20T09:33:47","slug":"sonke-gender-justice-sonke-recent-employment-opportunity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/sonke-gender-justice-sonke-recent-employment-opportunity.html","title":{"rendered":"Sonke Gender Justice (Sonke) Recent Employment Opportunity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sonke Gender Justice (Sonke) works globally and across Africa to strengthen government, civil society and citizen capacity to take action to promote gender equality, prevent domestic and sexual violence and reduce the spread and impact of HIV and AIDS.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Finance Unit Manager<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location: <\/strong>Cape Town<br \/>\n<strong>Salary:<\/strong> R 596\u00a0272 to R840 000 per annum<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Provide strategic financial management<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coordinate internal and external audits (organisational and funder-specific)<\/li>\n<li>Budget, forecast, as well as financial monitoring and reporting<\/li>\n<li>Manage procurement processes within the organisation<\/li>\n<li>Provide oversight and management of financial policies, operating procedures and system<\/li>\n<li>Risk management<\/li>\n<li>Provide reports and make presentations on all financial matters to management and board meetings<\/li>\n<li>Develop short, medium, and long-term financial plans and projections<\/li>\n<li>Supervision of the finance team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Strategic financial management<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with Sonke\u2019s Co-Executive Director to develop, refine and guide Sonke\u2019s strategic vision through managing internal and external processes; and providing costing for operational\/project activities<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate and develop budgets based on the organisations strategic plan<\/li>\n<li>Monitor the implementation of the strategic financial objectives of the organisation and recommend\u00a0\u00a0 appropriate investment opportunities to strengthen the organisation\u2019s reserves to provide financial sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Take responsibility for strategic financial management and financial analysis in the organisation, to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness and accuracy of financial reporting<\/li>\n<li>Revise, amend and implement Sonke\u2019s financial systems to ensure proper and transparent financial management in line with International Financial Reporting Standards<\/li>\n<li>Work with the Co-Executive Director to ensure that all funding contracts are rigorously managed to avoid organisational risk<\/li>\n<li>Develop and improve internal reporting processes and support programme staff in budget development<\/li>\n<li>Ensure financial policies and procedures are reviewed and updated annually, ensuring the organisation has mechanisms for the monitoring of internal controls and compliance<\/li>\n<li>Manage the cash flow of the organisation, together with all bank accounts, petty cash floats and organisational credit\/debit cards, prepare\/review cash flow projections on an ongoing basis and advise the Co-Executive Director and Senior Management Team on cost-saving measures across the organisation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Management of Audits\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coordinate the external annual audit, donor-specific audits, and oversee internal audits<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate pre-audit meetings to establish expectations and requirements prior to the audit, make recommendations on findings and ensure prompt corrective action is implemented where appropriate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Management of Finance Team \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Convene weekly team meetings and monitor implementation of the unit\u2019s work<\/li>\n<li>\u200b\u200b\u200bConduct monthly documented supervision meetings and performance appraisals with staff members<\/li>\n<li>\u200bManage staff development plans and other human resource matters for the Finance Unit and play a key role in building the financial management skills of the team<\/li>\n<li>\u200bFacilitate team building, team identity and strengthen working relations between staff members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Payroll Management and adherence to statutory requirements: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage the efficient administration of payroll and oversee timely processing of payments<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that Sonke is compliant with all statutory requirements and payments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Management of Assets<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide oversight and management of the organisation\u2019s property and equipment including the Asset Register<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Donor Reporting<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that donor reporting takes account of the provisions of all relevant funding contracts<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that monthly Income and Expenditure reports, year-to-dates, showing expenses incurred, funds available and funds needed for the remainder of the project are prepared as per the various deadlines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor of Commerce Degree (B.
