We are the support operation through which the University &#8211; primarily its Faculty of Health Sciences &#8211; conducts research, manages donor-funded activities, pursues entrepreneurial innovation in health and supports clinical trials.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Finance Manager<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job Location: <\/strong>Parktown<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key performance areas\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To provide a strategic and enabling financial and administrative framework within which the Division are able to function optimally and to provide leadership with regard to all financial matters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Financial management:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and implement financial strategies, including systems, processes, procedures and policies by practising sound governance.<\/li>\n<li>Implement and enhance financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and utilise activity-based financial analyses that provide insight into the division\u2019s operations.<\/li>\n<li>Provide strategies in the set- up of the creditors department, tracking of purchase orders and procurement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ensure compliance with donor requirements and management of audits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensuring all costs incurred by the division are compliant with WHC policies as well as donor rules.<\/li>\n<li>Includes timing and planning of audit. Liaising with WHC Compliance, donors and auditors on issued raised and resolving such issues.<\/li>\n<li>Acceptable level of compliance issues will determine performance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Financial reporting (division and donor):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage the consolidation of relevant financial reporting data.<\/li>\n<li>Manage and review all month-end and year-end closing activities.<\/li>\n<li>Manage the preparation and communication of month-end and year-end financial statements.<\/li>\n<li>Produce accurate financial reports within set deadlines to relevant stakeholders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Budget management:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plan, prepare and review annual budgets, including operations budget, for approval by stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Disseminate and present budgets to stakeholders (including donors).<\/li>\n<li>Monitor the budget through effective internal controls.<\/li>\n<li>Manage expenditures and report any irregularities.<\/li>\n<li>Manage cost recovery from projects.<\/li>\n<li>Produce variance reports and budget forecasts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Stakeholder liaison, customer service and financial advice:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gain a full understanding of the division\u2019s financial needs.<\/li>\n<li>Act as a strategic business partner in providing expert advice on the rectification of over- and under-spending.<\/li>\n<li>Advise the division on allocations and accruals of expenses.<\/li>\n<li>Communicate with senior management (including Leadership Groups) regarding cash flow and business developments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required minimum education and training<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BCom Honours in Accounting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required minimum work experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum 5 years\u2019 experience in Accounting and\/or Financial Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional education, work experience and personal abilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must have sound knowledge of financial management.<\/li>\n<li>Written and verbal communication skills required.<\/li>\n<li>Must have a broad knowledge and understanding of financial and management accounting principles.<\/li>\n<li>Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and accounting systems i.e. Sage X3.<\/li>\n<li>Attention to detail, meticulous and thorough.<\/li>\n<li>Must have the ability to influence and negotiate with all stakeholders and manage people.<\/li>\n<li>Able to prioritize own work load in meeting deadlines and handle pressure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Should you be interested in applying for this vacancy, clearly state which vacancy you are applying for and forward your detailed CV to:\u00a0<strong>Nomonde Gaju\u00a0a<\/strong>t<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:ngaju@witshealth.co.za\">ngaju@witshealth.co.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Friday, 19 July, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Limited (WHC) is wholly-owned by the University of the Witwatersrand.
