We seek to make a positive and lasting impact in the areas of early life, education and employment so that individuals and communities across Cape Town can build brighter futures for themselves.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2016, Common Good was appointed as a School Operating Partner (SOP) in the Collaboration Schools Initiative, a pilot project of the WCED. The initiative aims to improve educational outcomes in our non-fee-paying government schools through providing increased educational and operational support and strengthening governance, leadership and management. As a school operating partner Common Good is involved in the systematic transformation of a school -working in partnership with the SGB, SMT, teaching staff, non-teaching staff and learners to drive progress and improvement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:<\/strong><strong> Finance Manager<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Job location:<\/strong>\u00a0Cape Town<\/p>\n<p><strong>Report to:<\/strong> The CEO and will\u00a0form part of the Common Good Leadership Team, act as the treasurer of the SGB\u2019s<\/p>\n<p>The duties and responsibilities of the job are individual and varied, providing a service to Common Good as an organization including the Education Collaboration School\u2019s initiative. The successful individual will be responsible for the following duties, which are not limited to:<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Financial Management:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Act as the first point of contact for all finance related questions<\/li>\n<li>Overall management of the organisations finance, planning, cost efficiency, reporting and analytics, and financial planning strategies for all of the organisation\u2019s programmes.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in conducting financial modelling to support and govern all programmes.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance of financial and administrative guidelines and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all financial policies are up to date<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Statutory and General Reporting:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage all Common Good\u2019s financial accounting and reporting systems<\/li>\n<li>Monitor all operating and capital expenditure for all projects within Common Good<\/li>\n<li>Compile, review and distribute monthly financial reports for all projects within Common Good<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the financial reporting requirements for all Common Good\u2019s funding agreements are timeously adhered to<\/li>\n<li>Assist the Management Team with formulation and implementation of financial reports and scaling projects<\/li>\n<li>Variance Analysis Income Statement and Balance Sheet<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all legislative requirements for Common Good are met and all required returns are submitted on time<\/li>\n<li>Assist with Preparation for Board meetings and presentation report of financial information for Board meetings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Budget Management:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage, compile and maintain accurate project budgets and forecasts for all Common Good projects<\/li>\n<li>Work with the COO and CEO to ensure accurate forecasting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Auditing:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare and overall responsibility for the annual audit and of the annual financial statements<\/li>\n<li>Balance Sheet and Income statement schedules<\/li>\n<li>Variance Analysis Income Statement and Balance Sheet<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the integrity of the company\u2019s financial systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>General Accounting and Taxation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Petty cash control<\/li>\n<li>Manage monthly cash flow requirements<\/li>\n<li>Understanding and raising of accruals, provision and repayments<\/li>\n<li>Full-function accounts payable<\/li>\n<li>Reconciling and maintaining Income received in advance<\/li>\n<li>Review VAT 201prepation, reconciliation and submission<\/li>\n<li>Review, analysis and improvement of finance processes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Payroll:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supply the HR Management team with financial information for all HR requirements<\/li>\n<li>Review monthly payroll and submitting the required statutory payroll returns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Team Management:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage the finance team (Junior Accountant and Bookkeeper). Measuring KPI\u2019s<\/li>\n<li>Build and maintain relationships with team leaders of each Common Good initiative<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Collaboration Schools:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend School Governing Body meetings in the position of school treasurer<\/li>\n<li>Cash flow management including cash flow forecasting and analysis<\/li>\n<li>Regulate school spending based on budget allocations and in compliance with finance policies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BCom\u00a0Accounting Degree<\/li>\n<li>Completed articles with a minimum of five years\u2019 financial management experience essential<\/li>\n<li>CA (SA) Advantageous<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to contribute to the values and ethos of Common Good is essential.<\/li>\n<li>Advanced knowledge of Excel and bookkeeping programmes<\/li>\n<li>Sound understanding of VAT, PAYE and company statutory requirements<\/li>\n<li>Experience and understanding of financial and payroll processes and systems<\/li>\n<li>Strong financial\/costing\/accounting and analytical skills<\/li>\n<li>Financial Reporting and Budgeting<\/li>\n<li>Financial statements<\/li>\n<li>Relationship management with key stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of the latest accounting standards and interpretations essential<\/li>\n<li>Interpersonal skills, the ability to develop positive working relationships with individuals and teams\u2019 essential<\/li>\n<li>Proactive with good self-leadership<\/li>\n<li>Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities<\/li>\n<li>Resilient and open to working with various personalities<\/li>\n<li>Competent communicator<\/li>\n<li>Approachable and trustworthy<\/li>\n<li>Mature and responsible attitude towards work with the ability to take ownership of projects<\/li>\n<li>Ability to successfully multi-task and manage financial projects across all of Common Good\u2019s diverse projects<\/li>\n<li>Adaptable to new projects and requirements<\/li>\n<li>Attention to detail<\/li>\n<li>Time management and organisational skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit a motivational cover letter, your CV and two recent work references to Stacey Calvert <strong><a href=\"mailto:stacey.calvert@commongood.org.za\">stacey.calvert@commongood.org.za<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>indicate the position title in the subject line.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Friday, 26 July, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Common Good is a Christian faith-based, not-for-profit organisation founded by Common Ground Church in 2005, working in a range of communities.
