developing strategic interventions that strengthen the overall ecology of the field, working with a diverse network of partners and interests locally, continentally and globally.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Director<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Johannesburg<br \/>\n<strong>Reports\u00a0to:<\/strong> VANSA Board of Directors<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the position is to\u00a0be responsible for developing and implementing a sustainability agenda for the organisation, managing an annual budget of R4 \u2013 R5 million, as well as managing a core team of 4-5 staff at our national office based in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Remuneration:<\/strong> R360 000 per annum (cost to organisation), renewable and reviewed annually subject to the financial position of the organisation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start date:<\/strong> 1 October 2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strategic Business Development:<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate the business model and assess it in relation to the organisation\u2019s strategic plan, and the current and future needs of the organisation.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and implement a sustainability plan in line with the organisational strategy and in relation to current and future needs of the organisation.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and manage new and existing partnerships.<\/li>\n<li>Drive the financial strategy of the organisation, ensuring strong systems are in place for the management of financial resources.<\/li>\n<li>Organisational Development:<\/li>\n<li>Directing the core business of the organisation namely; Research, Advocacy &amp; Lobbying, Membership &amp; Stakeholder relations.<\/li>\n<li>Provide oversight on projects.<\/li>\n<li>Staff development as per the needs of the organisation.<\/li>\n<li>Manage and develop the governance structure of the organisation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reqiurements\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of the contemporary art field in South Africa, Africa and globally (not necessarily confined to visual arts).<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of the cultural policy landscape in South Africa, and experience working with lobbying government.<\/li>\n<li>Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial skills.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in managing relationships with partners and funders.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in programme and project management.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in developing and applying organisational policies.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of financial management and systems.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in managing and developing people\/teams, and in working with a board or similar structure.<\/li>\n<li>Strong written and verbal communications skills; strong interpersonal and networking skills.<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to sometimes work irregular hours.<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to travel extensively locally and internationally.<\/li>\n<li>A drivers license.<\/li>\n<li>Relevant tertiary qualification.<\/li>\n<li>Desirable Competencies:<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate effectively in at least one South African language other than English or Afrikaans.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in designing and managing research projects.<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with social media
