{"id":48626,"date":"2019-08-16T13:37:54","date_gmt":"2019-08-16T11:37:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=48626"},"modified":"2019-08-15T13:57:15","modified_gmt":"2019-08-15T11:57:15","slug":"communications-advocacy-project-current-available-job-opportunity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/communications-advocacy-project-current-available-job-opportunity.html","title":{"rendered":"Communications Advocacy Project Current Available Job Opportunity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are an experimental and social justice-oriented strategic communications agency that partners with civil society organisation to strategically and responsibly use research, media, communications, data and technology to advance social change.<\/p>\n<p>As a collective of irreverent strategic thinkers and skilled doers, we use local insights and technical expertise guided by feminist ethics to advance work rooted in equity, access and justice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Communication Researcher<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>South Africa<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the role:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will work within a small team to strengthen the communications capacity of a South African transgender and gender diverse persons organisation to develop evidence-based messaging strategies in support of their self-defined and self-led social change work. The overall objective project is to identify, frame, vet and test persuasive messages that South African LGBTQI activists can use to further their self-determined social change goals.<\/p>\n<p>With guidance from the organization and its constituents, the consultant will conduct primary and secondary research to provide a robust understanding of the current landscape of messaging and perceptions of transgender and gender diverse communities in South Africa, in order to: identify some of the key drivers of attitudes and stereotypes, and identify strategic points of entry and opportunities to achieve positive gains and successes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consultations with the organisation about their research priorities and needs;<\/li>\n<li>Baseline mapping of audience attitudes<\/li>\n<li>Baseline assessment of the organisation\u2019s current messaging;<\/li>\n<li>Development of a research work plan that details approach to attitudes mapping and research, and including methods for message testing\/validation.<\/li>\n<li>Review and assess\u00a0current research to identify near-term improvement recommendations as well as long-term solutions leveraging target audiences, allies, civil servants, and policy makers.<\/li>\n<li>Share\u00a0knowledge\u00a0by\u00a0documenting\u00a0findings\u00a0in\u00a0a report and presentation.<\/li>\n<li>Draft findings into a user-friendly strategic communication lesson sharing material.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ideal Candidate:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A deep commitment to social justice and feminist ethics.<\/li>\n<li>3+ years experience conducting research within social justice sector, especially for LGBTIAPQ+, gender and\/or women\u2019s rights.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated understanding of South Africa\u2019s LGBTIAPQ+ sector and overall related policies.<\/li>\n<li>Strong writing and analytical skills, with a record of publications<\/li>\n<li>Able to simply and effectively communicate research data and findings.<\/li>\n<li>A passion for pushing ideas and introducing new and irreverent approaches and methods.<\/li>\n<li>A good team player that can self-manage but deliver within strict deadlines.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent command of isiXhosa and\/or isiZulu and\/or Setswana, and English.<\/li>\n<li>Adaptable and flexible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Applications Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Friday, 30 August, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are an experimental and social justice-oriented strategic communications agency that partners with civil society organisation to strategically and responsibly use research, media, communications, data and technology to advance social&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1353,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[221,374],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 -
