The current staff complement is approx. 130, the majority of whom are nursing and professional therapy staff with HR, Operations and Fund development as support services.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Staff nurses and Enrolled \u200bNurses<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Cape Town<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reports\u00a0to:\u00a0<\/strong>Registered nurse on duty<\/p>\n<p><strong>Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>all staff nurses are\u00a0to work 7\/7 shifts and must be able to work night shifts.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in paediatric care is essential.<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy is essential<\/li>\n<li>2 years\u2019 experience required<\/li>\n<li>SANC registered.<\/li>\n<li>Must have an understanding of\u00a0 chronic life limiting and life threatening medical conditions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Key Duties\u00a0 are as follows:<\/li>\n<li>Shift staff\u00a0 supervision \u2013 attendance, morale, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Allocation of daily tasks\u00a0 to ENA and carers.<\/li>\n<li>Drawing up individual patient nursing care plans<\/li>\n<li>Administration\u00a0 and ordering of medication<\/li>\n<li>Ensure patients records and general admin requirements are completed timeously<\/li>\n<li>Participation( provide input ) in Performance appraisal discussions<\/li>\n<li>Hands on bed side nursing care<\/li>\n<li>Staff\u00a0 on the job training<\/li>\n<li>Manage the children\u2019s behaviour according to disciplinary protocols and reward systems<\/li>\n<li>Ward shift handover.<\/li>\n<li>Manage complicated\u00a0 nursing care ( Wound)<\/li>\n<li>Referrals and liaison with multidisciplinary health team , internally and externally<\/li>\n<li>Supervising \/education visiting parents on the ward<\/li>\n<li>Enrolled Nursing Assistant<\/li>\n<li>Reporting to the Ward supervisor( RN\/SN) the ENA is responsible for the provision of nursing care to patients with Life limiting and life threatening medical conditions<\/li>\n<li>Key duties are as follows:<\/li>\n<li>Vital signs and observations\u00a0 and reporting<\/li>\n<li>Completion of patient records<\/li>\n<li>Trachea care<\/li>\n<li>Wound care<\/li>\n<li>Oxygen therapy.<\/li>\n<li>Diabetes\u00a0 blood glucose monitoring<\/li>\n<li>Bladder\u00a0 and bowel care<\/li>\n<li>Feeding\/tube feeds \/<\/li>\n<li>bathing and general patient hygiene<\/li>\n<li>Escorting children to hospital as required ( high risk patients)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please email a motivational letter and a detailed CV and to the HR manager \u00a0on <strong><a href=\"mailto:hr@stjosephshome.org.za\">hr@stjosephshome.org.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Friday, 20 September, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The St Joseph\u2019s Home is a paediatric intermediate healthcare facility providing holistic medical and rehabilitation care for children with life threatening and life limiting conditions.
