{"id":49397,"date":"2019-10-03T16:00:50","date_gmt":"2019-10-03T14:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=49397"},"modified":"2019-10-03T16:00:50","modified_gmt":"2019-10-03T14:00:50","slug":"hospice-palliative-care-association-of-south-africa-hpca-job-vacancy-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/hospice-palliative-care-association-of-south-africa-hpca-job-vacancy-4.html","title":{"rendered":"Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa (HPCA) Job Vacancy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To promote quality in life, dignity in death and support in bereavement for all living with a life-threatening illness by supporting member hospices and partner organisations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Lay Counsellor<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong>Mpumalanga: Gert Sibande District (Govan Mbeki), Ehlanzeni District (Mbombela), KZN: King Cetshwayo District (Umhlathuze)<\/p>\n<p>The primary purpose of this position is to provide testing and counselling services and become an integral part of the broader comprehensive care and treatment program in a non-Clinical site and\/or community that links the community into care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The\u00a0Successful\u00a0\u00a0Candidate\u00a0will:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Implement Targeted Community HIV Testing Services<\/li>\n<li>HIV pre-test, post-test counselling<\/li>\n<li>Adherence counselling<\/li>\n<li>Conduct Index Testing and Mobile testing<\/li>\n<li>Give health education on health-related issues<\/li>\n<li>Give support to both infected and affected clients<\/li>\n<li>Provide education on HIV, TB and STIs prevention strategies<\/li>\n<li>Participate in organizing HIVAIDS awareness events<\/li>\n<li>Promote HIV counselling, testing and condom use<\/li>\n<li>Conduct screening for TB and STIs<\/li>\n<li>Collect data<\/li>\n<li>Implement Active Referral and Linkage to Care<\/li>\n<li>Refer and link all new HIV, TB, STI cases<\/li>\n<li>Link HIV negative patients to preventative service providers<\/li>\n<li>Trace defaulters and link them back to the mainstream<\/li>\n<li>Collect data<\/li>\n<li>Implement Adherence Support<\/li>\n<li>Introduce a risk reduction plan for clients in the post-test counselling and the adherence support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualification\u00a0and\u00a0Experience\u00a0(Minimum requirements)<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Matric \/ Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent<\/li>\n<li>Accredited training certificates:<\/li>\n<li>Basic HIV information course, Intensive Counselling course and Adherence Counselling course and the ability to Counsel using the ACTS method<\/li>\n<li>Finger prick certificate<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate in English and one or more South African language(s) commonly spoken in the Sub-District<\/li>\n<li>Basic knowledge of HIV\/AIDS and TB &amp; Supporting people living with HIV<\/li>\n<li>Involvement in some aspect of community work will be an added advantage<\/li>\n<li>Valid EB Driver\u2019s License with clean driving record and no traffic violations<\/li>\n<li>Clear criminal record<\/li>\n<li>Minimum one to two years\u2019 experience in:<\/li>\n<li>HIV Counselling, Finger pricking and intensive adherence counselling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills\u00a0AND Competencies\u00a0Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Technical Skill and expertise<\/li>\n<li>Good communication Skills<\/li>\n<li>Customer Service orientation<\/li>\n<li>Detail Orientation<\/li>\n<li>High level of integrity<\/li>\n<li>Team work<\/li>\n<li>Adaptability<\/li>\n<li>Compassion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please submit a detailed CV, covering letter and names of three contactable references including email contact to<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"mailto:hr@hpca.co.za\"><strong>hr@hpca.co.za<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline: <\/strong>\u00a0Monday, 7<sup>th<\/sup> October 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To promote quality in life, dignity in death and support in bereavement for all living with a life-threatening illness by supporting member hospices and partner organisations.
