It offers services ranging from counselling, advocacy as well as providing shelters for survivors of violence against women and their children.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1979, POWA undergoing strategic transformation hence this search for a leader who will steer the organisation in its next level of development. A safe and equal society intolerant of all forms of violence against women and girls in all their diversity, where they are treated with respect and dignity and their rights are promoted.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Executive Director<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong>Johannesburg<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strategic leadership<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with Board of Directors in implementing strategic vision of the organisation.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that staff and volunteers understand and implement the strategic vision and objectives of POWA.<\/li>\n<li>Initiate and maintain networks and partnerships with strategic stakeholders in government, business and civil society organisations globally, regionally, nationally and locally.<\/li>\n<li>Develop an organisational structure and culture which is appropriate to the changing requirements of the organisation and the communities it serves.<\/li>\n<li>Financial Sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Develop and implement a multi-faceted resource mobilisation strategy.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor organisational budgets.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure effective management of resources \u2013 human, financial and other organisational assets.<\/li>\n<li>General Management<\/li>\n<li>Provide strategic leadership for staff and volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>Assume overall responsibility for all programmatic functions.<\/li>\n<li>Promote positive image of POWA.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure ongoing training and capacity building for staff and volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and implement Performance and Management Systems within POWA.<\/li>\n<li>Create an environment that encourage team spirit and commitment to quality service for survivors and their children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A University degree in Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Public Health, Social Sciences and other relevant degrees.<\/li>\n<li>Experience at senior management level within the social services and NGO sector.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in human resource management with a specific focus on managing volunteers and culturally diverse groups.<\/li>\n<li>Competencies:<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of violence against women and girls.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in donor funding, including government funding mechanisms.<\/li>\n<li>Budgeting, strategic planning and change management process.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to monitor financial aspects of the organisation.<\/li>\n<li>Communication skills \u2013 public speaking, facilitation and presentation.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with media -visual, electronic and print.<\/li>\n<li>Writing skills \u2013 reports and proposals<\/li>\n<li>Manage diversity.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to inspire and motivate staff and volunteers<\/li>\n<li>Ability to lead by example.<\/li>\n<li>Execute vision of POWA in collaboration with the Board.<\/li>\n<li>A driver\u2019s license is essential<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interested candidates to forward the CV\u2019s to POWA:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:vacancies@powa.co.za\">vacancy@powa.co.za<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline: <\/strong>Tuesday, 29 October, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA) is a non-profit making women\u2019s rights organization aimed at ensuring that the rights of women and girls are protected and promoted.
