Unisa is the only publicly funded Higher Education Institution in South Africa dedicated to distance education.\u00a0\u00a0In keeping with its mandate as a comprehensive, Open and Distance Learning Tertiary Institution offering a variety of academic and career-focused programmes, the University is inviting applications for the position of Executive Director: Information & Statistical Analysis.<\/p>\n

Roles and responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>The aim of the position is to\u00a0contribute to institutional effectiveness and performance by analysing relevant and current research information and performance indicators, for management decision making.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Key responsibilities include the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Information and statistical analysis<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Participates in the strategy formulation process of the University by providing progress and trends against set institutional performance indicators.<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Build and maintain an integrated organisational intelligence framework;<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Provide technology enhanced management information\u00a0solutions\u00a0to all relevant stakeholders;<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Provides accurate, timely and reliable management information and analysis to support institutional planning, decision making as well as policy advocacy and planning.\u00a0\u00a0This will include amongst others, trends on student success and graduation rates, enrolment targets against set norms, cohort studies and student profiling.<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Supports institutional planning and decision making through providing relevant scenario analysis and forecasting of institutional and\u00a0secure\u00a0data;<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Ensures accurate HEMIS statutory reporting for subsidy purposes and oversees that a depository of the audited data is kept.<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Ensures the provision of accurate and reliable management information to improve and optimise<\/p>\n

strategic decision making and institutional effectiveness;<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Prepares and submits statutory reports on official University statistics to the Department of Higher Education & Training in compliance with statutory reporting requirements<\/p>\n

Institutional research<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Conducts an ongoing programme of relevant institutional research and environmental scanning and analysis;<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Manages multiple research projects namely, institutional profiling and evaluation, student profiling, benchmarking and surveys to identify institutional strengths and weaknesses;<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Develops and conducts the annual student profile survey of psychological and socio-economic factors for assessment of student risk, and to enable the configuring of effective student support;<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Conduct strategic discussion forums on relevant institutional research matters;<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Analyses the Higher Education system\u2019s research outputs for determination of UNISA\u2019s position\/ranking;<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Manages the daily operations and activities of the department, coaches and guides staff on an ongoing basis;<\/p>\n

\u00a7\u00a0\u00a0Establishes the department as a nationally and internationally recognised centre of innovation and expertise in the field of management information, institutional research and analysis and planning<\/p>\n
