We are the support operation through which the University &#8211; primarily its Faculty of Health Sciences &#8211; conducts research, manages donor-funded activities, pursues entrepreneurial innovation in health and supports clinical trials.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Grants Manager<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong>Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Soweto<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main purpose of the job<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To lead the provision of effective financial and administrative support services to all staff and sites, specifically<br \/>\nin the areas of financial management, donor liaison and organizational administration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key performance areas<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Implement financial strategies, including systems, processes and policies and procedures through sound<\/li>\n<li>governance practices.<\/li>\n<li>Provide financial advice and review of funding applications.<\/li>\n<li>Forecast future financial outcomes, plan, prepare and review annual budgets for approval by relevant<\/li>\n<li>Stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Disseminate and present to budgets to stakeholders (including donors).<\/li>\n<li>Manage and monitor expenditure and report any irregularities.<\/li>\n<li>Manage cost recovery from projects.<\/li>\n<li>Prevent unauthorized expenditure or overspending.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee cash flow planning and management and ensure that funds are available as required.<\/li>\n<li>Effective management of finance deliverable for the SSC and division.<\/li>\n<li>Implement and maintain financial management mechanisms that reduce financial risk to the business<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with donor requirements and manage audits.<\/li>\n<li>Manage, compile and review month- end and year- end closing activities and ensure accurate financial<\/li>\n<li>statements are available to relevant stakeholder within specified deadlines.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise and manage the duties of team members to ensure optimal utilization of staff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required minimum education and training<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>B.Com (Accounting) or 3 years National Diploma<\/p>\n<p><strong>Required minimum work experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Minimum 5 years working experience in Accounting and or Financial Management<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of SAGEX3, IFRS and the SA GAAP<\/li>\n<li>Experience in a donor funded environment<\/li>\n<li>Ability to influence, negotiate and communicate effectively with stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of donor and contractual requirements<\/li>\n<li>Organized, thorough and accurate approach to work<\/li>\n<li>Resilient with demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Above average computer skills, particularly in MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook and MS Word.<\/li>\n<li>Drivers licence &amp; own vehicle essential.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Should you be interested in applying for this vacancy, clearly state which vacancy you are applying for and forward your detailed CV to:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:ngaju@witshealth.co.za\">ngaju@witshealth.co.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Tuesday, 24 December, 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Limited (WHC) is wholly-owned by the University of the Witwatersrand.
