SFH in South Africa currently concentrates on issues of HIV\/ AIDS with the view to strategically expand to other public health areas.<\/p>\n<p>As part of its HIV\/AIDS control efforts, SFH is using social marketing to motivate behaviour change concerning consistent condom use, HIV testing, and other safer behaviours.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtecenter\"><strong>Job Title: Associate Legal Counsel<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Department: <\/strong>Legal Services<br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong><strong>Cape Town, South Africa<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Employment status: <\/strong>Permanent<br \/>\n<strong>Reports to<\/strong>General Counsel (GC)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties and Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Analyzes &amp; negotiates unique contract requirements, terms, conditions &amp; special provisions to ensure compliance with applicable regulations &amp; PSI objectives<\/li>\n<li>Advises PSI internal clients\/BU\u2019s on contractual rights\/obligations &amp; provides interpretation\/guidance on contract terms &amp; conditions<\/li>\n<li>Drafts, edits &amp; finalize briefs, memoranda, reports, legal opinions, correspondence &amp; other legal documents<\/li>\n<li>Performs special projects &amp; legal portfolio management as requested by GC<\/li>\n<li>Reviews the legal, business &amp; regulatory environment for legal changes &amp; new risks<\/li>\n<li>Reviews &amp; interprets legislation\/regulations &amp; local country laws applicable to PSI\u2019s operating jurisdictions<\/li>\n<li>Provides oversight &amp; management of legal matters outsourced to external counsel<\/li>\n<li>Supports PSI\u2019s Legal Services Team in terms of audit requests &amp; reviews by outside agencies as required<\/li>\n<li>Identifies, analyzes &amp; escalates high-risk matters to the GC &amp; and keeps the GC updated on progress &amp; resolution of these matters<\/li>\n<li>Identifies, develops, implements &amp; models standard operating procedures &amp; legal best practices to achieve PSI\u2019s strategic objectives, while minimizing costs &amp; mitigating legal risk to PSI<\/li>\n<li>Maintains a high ethical standard of practice, including compliance with all PSI policies &amp; procedures &amp; supports Ethics &amp; Compliance Program(s)<\/li>\n<li>Manages Legal services systems, processes; provides inputs to trainings, policy, procedure development etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED SKILLS &amp; PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) or LLM (Corp\/Commercial law)<\/li>\n<li>Independent judgment &amp; analysis applied to resolution of legal\/contractual issues<\/li>\n<li>Ability to influence, negotiate effectively &amp; devise workable options &amp; solutions<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to provide sound interpretation\/application of statutes &amp; regulations<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills &#8211; communicate\/interact effectively both internally &amp; externally<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work in a fast pace, complex environment &amp; effectively multi-task to meet deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Software Applications<\/li>\n<li>Excellent English verbal &amp; written communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Travel occasionally; work long or flexible hours as needed<\/li>\n<li>Juris Doctorate or equivalent &amp; license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction<\/li>\n<li>5 years\u2019 relevant legal experience with at least 3 years focusing on contracts\/in-house legal<\/li>\n<li>Experience drafting, negotiating &amp; managing complex, wide-ranging, multi-party transactions &amp; agreements<\/li>\n<li>Experience interacting with BU\u2019s &amp; managing diverse legal portfolios aligned to strategic program goal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>TO APPLY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please send your full application to<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:recruitment@sfh.co.za\">recruitment@sfh.co.za<\/a><\/strong> .
