The Senior Program Specialist: Advocacy position will support the implementation of the program through the Sex Rights Africa Network (SRAN).<\/p>\n<p>SRAN is a regional networking hub to share evidence and strengthen action to realise sexual and reproductive health rights 9SRHR) or all in Southern Africa and globally.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Senior Program Specialist &#8211; Research and Advocacy<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>South Africa<\/p>\n<p>Advocacy coordination is a critical component of the network. This position is available in Durban based at the organization\u2019s head.\u00a0 Applicants must have the ability to work in a demanding and high pressured environment and be able to travel as per job requirements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities include but are not limited to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0<strong>Design and manage the advocacy component of AFSA\u2019s sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) regional programming \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop clear advocacy goals and targets for the SRHR programme<\/li>\n<li>Identify national and regional advocacy audiences and partners for the goals and targets<\/li>\n<li>Prepare an advocacy campaign strategy to achieve the goals and targets<\/li>\n<li>Lead the development of advocacy\u00a0campaigns<\/li>\n<li>Manage the implementation of the campaigns<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and report on progress towards the advocacy goals<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate research activities to generate evidence to support advocacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2. Develop and implement an organisational advocacy strategy for AFSA<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In consultation with the SRHR team, programme partners and SRAN Network members, identify advocacy goals and targets for the organisation\n<ul>\n<li>Identify advocacy audiences and partners for the goals and targets<\/li>\n<li>Prepare an advocacy campaign strategy to achieve the goals and targets<\/li>\n<li>Lead the development of advocacy\u00a0campaigns<\/li>\n<li>Manage the implementation of the campaigns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and report on progress towards the advocacy goals<\/li>\n<li>Ensure alignment of programmatic and organisational advocacy activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications and experience :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Education and experience<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<li>Post graduate\u00a0degree plus at least five years of related experience preferred. Masters degree ideal.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Knowledge and understanding<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<li>Broad knowledge of SRHR issues and trends across the field, understanding of how research informs advocacy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strong written\/oral communication skills:<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Prior demonstrated research and report<\/li>\n<li>Generation from which action, policy or system change was an outcome;<\/li>\n<li>Gxperience in implementing a multi-country project,<\/li>\n<li>Comfortable with public speaking and meeting facilitation; and ability to write impeccably in a variety of styles.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent administrative and project management skills, particularly in an environment with competing demands and overlapping projects: ability to work independently, take initiative, establish and accomplish priorities when faced with multiple tasks, work with and without deadlines, pay close attention to details and logistics.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Interpersonal skills:<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively with a wide array of constituencies and personalities, commitment and flexibility at all times.<\/li>\n<li>Advanced computer skills &#8211; MS Office, as well as common web 2.0 tools.<\/li>\n<li>Strong work ethic and work history that would evidence commitment to AFSA\u2019s mission.<\/li>\n<li>Genuine passion for SRHR and related issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>To apply <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interested persons need to submit a brief CV (no more than 4 pages), along with cover letter and\u00a0 copies of certificates, ID and driver\u2019s license with the reference Senior Program Specialist: Research and Advocacy \u2013 SRHR \u00a0in the subject line via emails to the AIDS Foundation of South Africa\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:recruitment@aids.org.za\"><strong>recruitment@aids.org.za<\/strong><\/a>.
