This position is based in Pretoria South Africa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Terms of Reference for the Internship:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities &#8211; Under the supervision of the Housing and Human Settlements Director, the intern will focus on the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct desktop research (internet-based) to support the work of subject matter experts (land and property rights, constructions, DR3, policy and advocacy, WASH, access to energy, urban planning, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Conduct desktop research (internet-based) that will feed into a range of documents primarily aligned with the integrated systems approach to incremental housing processes (ISA2IHP) regional initiative, including program\/ project checklist, case study templates, position documents, cross-cutting themes documentations, presentations, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the preparation of ISA2IHP case studies in coordination with field offices and other EMEA teams.<\/li>\n<li>Support HHS program communications efforts<\/li>\n<li>Read, analyze and present information for use in strategy, program guidelines, program position papers, as well as business development documents around Sub-Saharan and Middle East regional priorities.<\/li>\n<li>Provide project management support on special projects with involvement in the full project management life cycle<\/li>\n<li>Assist with the planning and logistics of any program-related meetings, workshops or other events, including notetaking.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with project administrative support tasks, including official correspondence with business partners.<\/li>\n<li>Perform other tasks as assigned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Expected Outcomes &#8211; At the end of the internship, the following outcomes are envisaged:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completed reports, content papers, presentations and recommendations as tasked on different assignments.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge gained of the housing\/human settlements sector.<\/li>\n<li>Experience and understanding of Habitat\u2019s program-related processes and systems, enhanced skills in project management.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of a range of administrative processes in Habitat for Humanity.<\/li>\n<li>Insight and experience of working in an international Non-Profit Organization with a diverse team of people.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Essential Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Graduate degree in a related field \u2013 Development Studies, Public &amp; Development Administration, Project Management, Social Sciences or Housing &amp; Human Settlements. A postgraduate qualification would be a definite advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Have computer skills particularly MS Office, Power Point, MS Project and intermediate Excel skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required qualities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be well-organized, detail-oriented and be able to work well both independently and in a team environment.<\/li>\n<li>The person must enjoy research work and have a strong analytical mind.<\/li>\n<li>Must be enthusiastic, creative and self-motivated.<\/li>\n<li>Should be willing to do administrative work.<\/li>\n<li>Readily listens to other perspectives and is open to learning.<\/li>\n<li>Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills in English.<\/li>\n<li>Asks questions to clarify and exhibits interest in two-way communication.<\/li>\n<li>Interest in housing\/land issues\/advocacy\/basic services and international development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other Relevant Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interns are urged to complete the full term of their internship and will accordingly receive a reference on successful completion thereof.<\/li>\n<li>The intern must keep confidential any and all unpublished information made known during the internship and not publish any reports or papers on the basis of information obtained except with HFHI\u2019s written approval and authorization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>TO APPLY:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit your CV along with a letter of motivation to<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:emeahr@habitat.org\">emeahr@habitat.org<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline: <\/strong>31 December 2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is a global, nonprofit, Christian housing organization working in approximately 70 countries around the world.
