{"id":51145,"date":"2020-01-09T14:08:21","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T12:08:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=51145"},"modified":"2020-01-09T14:08:56","modified_gmt":"2020-01-09T12:08:56","slug":"choc-recent-available-employment-vacancy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/choc-recent-available-employment-vacancy.html","title":{"rendered":"CHOC Recent Available Employment Vacancy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHOC is a non-profit organisation made up of caring, committed and passionate people who stand up for and support the well-being of children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer or life threatening blood disorders and their families.<\/p>\n<p>CHOC aims to save lives through early detection and making the journey of those who are affected by childhood cancer, less burdensome through the comprehensive support programmes we offer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Social Worker Paediatric Haematology Oncology Unit<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong>Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Soweto, Gauteng.<br \/>\n<strong>Reports\u00a0to:<\/strong> CHOC Psychosocial\u00a0Support\u00a0Services\u00a0Manager.<br \/>\n<strong>Start Date:<\/strong> \u00a002 March 2020<br \/>\nRemuneration: Salary in the range\u00a0R192k-R210k \u00a0per annum, CHOC makes contributions towards a pension fund as well as offers a medical aid subsidy.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this position is to\u00a0provide counselling and psychosocial support services to children diagnosed with cancer or life threatening blood disorders and their families.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Counseling:<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate the counselling of and support to parents at the time of breaking bad news.<\/li>\n<li>Provide individual and \/or group counselling, regarding the diagnosis and treatment, to the patient and family (including siblings) from diagnosis onward.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare the patient and\/or parent\/family for medical and treatment procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Provide palliative, end-of-life care and support for the patient and family.<\/li>\n<li>Provide counselling and\/or crisis intervention at the time of a patient\u2019s death.<\/li>\n<li>Provide bereavement support for families.<\/li>\n<li>Supervision<\/li>\n<li>Guide, supervise and mentor the CHOC Social Auxiliary Worker working in the POU.<\/li>\n<li>Additional Service Delivery:<\/li>\n<li>Network and consult with community organisations to enhance service delivery to the children and their families.<\/li>\n<li>Assess, prepare and facilitate children who are well enough for the attendance of camps.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Assessments:<\/li>\n<li>Undertake psychosocial assessments of families and plan intervention accordingly, including other disciplines and resources as appropriate.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate statutory investigations as and when required under the Children\u2019s Act no 38 of 2005.<\/li>\n<li>General and Administration:<\/li>\n<li>Complete and submit monthly STAT reports within the first week of the month.<\/li>\n<li>Keep accurate records\/reports of the psychosocial support services and interventions provided.<\/li>\n<li>Personal and Professional Growth:<\/li>\n<li>Attend regular supervision with the PSSM and Psychosocial Team.<\/li>\n<li>Attend 2 x a year the Psychosocial Support Staff Team meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Ward and Team Meetings:<\/li>\n<li>Attend hand-over and ward team meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Educational Interventions:<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with the hospital- and the patient\u2019s home school about the implications of the treatment and eventual reintegration.<\/li>\n<li>Ward Volunteers:<\/li>\n<li>Assist the Programme Coordinator with the recruitment, selection and supervision of ward volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Fundraising and Awareness:<\/li>\n<li>Assist the region with awareness and fundraising events as and when required.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Support Program:<\/li>\n<li>Assist with the planning and organising of the annual Remembrance Service.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with the planning and organising of the annual ward\/year-end party.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Qualification:<\/li>\n<li>A recognised BA Social Work Degree with majors in Social Work (Honours) and Psychology (Third year).<\/li>\n<li>Registration:<\/li>\n<li>Up to date proof of registration with the S.A.
