Job Title: RPU Child Rights Governance Manager<\/strong>

Scope of Role<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Regional Programme Unit was set up\u00a0to hold regional institutions and mechanisms to account towards fulfilment of the rights of children. This provides leverage so that rights of children be respected by African governments\u00a0where SCI has a presence. It supports and strengthens the work of Save the Children in our countries of operations. Country offices in turn provide the basis on which to respond and articulate the needs of children.<\/p>\n

The Child Rights Governance\u00a0manager oversees the running and coordination of the Child Rights Governance\u00a0pillar of the Regional Programmes Unit. The purpose of the Child Rights Governance\u00a0pillar is to\u00a0influence policy making across Africa on the basis of the voice of children\/youth and the work of partners and Country Offices.<\/p>\n

The position will simultaneously manages multiple projects, donors, regional partners, countries and interaction with complex external organizations at the AU and regional level.\u00a0 The role will lead on technical inputs to strengthen\u00a0child rights governance systems and mechanisms in East and Southern Africa, to be inclusive and benefiting the most deprived children ensuring they are centered on a child rights approach. It will work to strengthen child rights governance at the AU level including strong collaboration with the ACERWC and promote the integration of children\u2019s rights in the decisions and actions of the AU with particular focus on the ACHPR, AfCHPR, AUC, RECs and PSC. The role will manage teams to deliver child rights governance programming using SCI project management\u2019s tools and be accountable for their performance.<\/p>\n

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.<\/p>\n
