The position\u00a0will develop an in-depth understanding of project and programme budgets and will monitor and report programme financial performance in accordance with the requirements of the different donor and organisational requirements. He\/she will support the production of the Institute\u2019s management accounts and fixed assets register.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Accountant will:<\/li>\n<li>Prepare monthly donor reports, supporting schedules as well as monthly and annual reconciliations of expenditure of donor reports.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that financial reports are timeously circulated, are accurate and reliable.<\/li>\n<li>Take responsibility for the fixed asset register and supporting processes.<\/li>\n<li>Assist the Head of Finance with compiling the management accounts.<\/li>\n<li>Support financial aspects of program audits and ensure audit requirements and recommendations are monitored.<\/li>\n<li>Provide support and coaching to the Junior Accountant.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with legislation, international accounting best practice and standards.<\/li>\n<li>Essential experience, skills, qualifications:<\/li>\n<li>A bachelors\u2019 degree in accounting\/financial management<\/li>\n<li>Accredited accountant from a recognised accountancy body \u2013 desirable<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of 10 years\u2019 experience in financial management and administration<\/li>\n<li>Advanced Excel skills, including complex financial formulae<\/li>\n<li>Experience in PASTEL accounting system<\/li>\n<li>Ability to create positive relationships with donors, project teams and other stakeholders across the organisation<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication and written English skills<\/li>\n<li>Good planning and organisation skills<\/li>\n<li>Flexible approach to work and willing to play a full role in ensuring the success of the team<\/li>\n<li>Proven track record in preparing monthly management and donor reports to deadlines and required standards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>To apply <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Candidates for this position should submit a motivational letter\u00a0quoting clearly the reference number of the position that they are applying for, a comprehensive CV, together with the names of three referees with their contact details to Shannon Gard <strong>(<a href=\"mailto:Shannon.gard@wits.ac.za\">Shannon.gard@wits.ac.za<\/a>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline: <\/strong>Friday, 20 March, 2020<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) based on the campus of the University of the Witwatersrand is an independent foreign policy and development think tank advancing a well-governed,&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1353,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[12],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 -
