The core objective of the IEJ is to provide policy makers and progressive social forces with access to rigorous economic analysis, and well thought through policy options, as a basis for advancing systemic change.<\/p>\n<p>Interventions proposed by the IEJ must advance social justice, promote equitable economic development that realises socio-economic rights, and ensure a thriving, democratic, environmentally sustainable, and inclusive economy that places the needs of the majority at the centre.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Director\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong> Johannesburg<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this position\u00a0will be either as a Co-Director or Deputy Director (experience dependent).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Required experience:<\/li>\n<li>Background in economics \/ economic policy:<\/li>\n<li>Masters in economics and\/or experience in economic research, economic policy, social justice work or associated fields.<\/li>\n<li>Organisational leadership:<\/li>\n<li>Minimum two years\u2019 experience in a management\/leadership capacity.<\/li>\n<li>Writing, editing and publishing experience:<\/li>\n<li>Strong writing and communication skills with a publishing record \u2013 academic or popular.<\/li>\n<li>Engagement with partners:<\/li>\n<li>Track record of working collaboratively with partner organisations and policy makers.<\/li>\n<li>Preferred experience<\/li>\n<li>Strategic planning:<\/li>\n<li>experience in organisational strategic planning.<\/li>\n<li>Fundraising, reporting:<\/li>\n<li>experience in engaging funders and\/or drafting funding proposals and\/or drafting funding reports<\/li>\n<li>Budget and finance:<\/li>\n<li>competence at managing a budget<\/li>\n<li>Other skills:<\/li>\n<li>Good computer skills \u2013 MS Office, Powerpoint, Excel and Email proficiency.<\/li>\n<li>Fluent in English, and preferably fluency in other South African languages.<\/li>\n<li>In line with the IEJ\u2019s policy on transformation, strong priority will be given to black women candidates.<\/li>\n<li>Organisational structure:<\/li>\n<li>The IEJ currently has a staff of eight.<\/li>\n<li>The new Director will work together with Co-Director Gilad Isaacs (who will remain in his role).<\/li>\n<li>The new Director will be based at the IEJ offices in Johannesburg \u2013 62 Juta Street, Braamfontein.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please complete the form at the following link : <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/oDjJKm36CPvKMK1z9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/forms.gle\/oDjJKm36CPvKMK1z9<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>23\/03\/2020<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The IEJ is an activist economic-policy think tank.
