{"id":53202,"date":"2020-03-19T15:53:45","date_gmt":"2020-03-19T13:53:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=53202"},"modified":"2020-03-19T15:53:45","modified_gmt":"2020-03-19T13:53:45","slug":"muscular-dystrophy-foundation-cape-branch-mdfc-ongoing-recruitment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/muscular-dystrophy-foundation-cape-branch-mdfc-ongoing-recruitment.html","title":{"rendered":"Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Cape Branch (MDFC) Ongoing Recruitment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Cape Branch (MDFC) is an NGO providing services and support to persons young and old affected by MD and neuromuscular disorders.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Social Workers<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong>Goodwood in Cape Town.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this position is to provide psycho-social support to persons affected by muscular dystrophy and neuromuscular disorders, their family members and significant others, by assisting the affected person and their families in coming to terms with the disability, educating them, participating in the process of improving the quality of their life, empowering them and facilitating access to various support services and resources.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals.<\/li>\n<li>Keep abreast with professional developments and update knowledge in all areas of social work and skills in muscular dystrophy and neuromuscular disorders. Adhere to the code of professional ethics.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work alone, ensure all tasks are performed efficiently and be able to think on your feet<\/li>\n<li>Clinical Responsibilities:<\/li>\n<li>Provide psycho-social support to persons affected by muscular dystrophy and neuromuscular disorders, their family members and significant others, by assisting the affected person, family members and significant others.<\/li>\n<li>To evaluate and recommend mechanical aids which can assist affected persons.<\/li>\n<li>To attend the Neuromuscular clinic at Red Cross Children\u2019s Hospital on a weekly basis and Tygerberg Hospital, fortnightly.<\/li>\n<li>To facilitate group work sessions with small groups of affected persons, their family members and care givers.<\/li>\n<li>To facilitate weekly support groups in schools.<\/li>\n<li>To facilitate monthly support groups for affected adults and families.<\/li>\n<li>To facilitate monthly and quarterly parent support groups.<\/li>\n<li>To facilitate workshops to create awareness, to ensure the understanding and ongoing support for the affected person and thereby promoting the accessibility of appropriate services.<\/li>\n<li>To undertake home visits as indicated in Practice Guidelines for SSP.<\/li>\n<li>To network with the local communities, appropriate organisations \u00a0governmental departments and therapists.<\/li>\n<li>To liaise, advise, educate and support professional staff regarding muscular dystrophy and neuromuscular disorders.<\/li>\n<li>To attend monthly committee meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Attend Department of Social Welfare meetings and others as recommended by the management committee.<\/li>\n<li>Monthly report back to National Office re: projects.<\/li>\n<li>To complete Department of Social Development returns.<\/li>\n<li>To guide and oversee the work of social auxiliary worker &amp; give input to performance.<\/li>\n<li>To assist with office\/work tasks as required.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with donors, prepare donor reports and draft donor proposals, including at least three new donor proposals per year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Grade 12 with relevant Tertiary qualifications as a Social Worker<\/li>\n<li>Preferably minimum of 3-5years relevant experience as a Social Worker\/Counsellor<\/li>\n<li>Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP)<\/li>\n<li>Advanced Computer literacy<\/li>\n<li>Valid Code 8 driver\u2019s licence and own transport is a requirement<\/li>\n<li>Report writing and interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>Facilitation skills and able to work independently<\/li>\n<li>Administrative skills<\/li>\n<li>English\/Afrikaans\/ Xhosa read, write and speak is essential<\/li>\n<li>Police Clearance Certificate essential.<\/li>\n<li>Saturday work is a requirement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit a 2page CV and a motivational letter, to Vanessa Jordaan at <strong><a href=\"mailto:cape@mdsa.org.za\">cape@mdsa.org.za<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>or fax to: 0865351387.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Cape Town<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Cape Branch (MDFC) is an NGO providing services and support to persons young and old affected by MD and neuromuscular disorders. &nbsp; &nbsp; Job Title: Social Workers&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1353,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[243,2246],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 -
