SERI has a first-rate research and advocacy team, which provides research, community-based public education, media advocacy and associated services to a wide range of communities and social movements.<\/p>\n<p>SERI research informs government policy, mobilises community-based action, and promotes public awareness of the need to protect and advance socio-economic rights.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Senior Researcher<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong>Johannesburg<br \/>\n<strong>Start date:<\/strong> 1 June 2020, or as soon as practicable.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting to the Director of Research and Advocacy, the Senior Researcher will be expected to help develop and implement a wide-ranging research programme.<\/p>\n<p>The salary attached to this post is approximately R589 000 per annum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least an MA in \u00a0humanities or social science-related discipline;<\/li>\n<li>Minimum five years\u2019 experience in social research design, implementation and publication;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent writing skills and a publication record;<\/li>\n<li>Fundraising experience;<\/li>\n<li>Proven ability to apply local legal and policy frameworks and international human rights-based frameworks to social research and various forms of advocacy;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to co-ordinate and manage research and advocacy projects and team members;<\/li>\n<li>A record of interest in and engagement with any area of work in which SERI is active; and<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in any of South Africa\u2019s indigenous languages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit your CV, two unedited samples of recent written work, together with a covering letter, to Princess Nkuna at<strong> <a href=\"mailto:princessn@seri-sa.org\">princessn@seri-sa.org<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong> quoting the position in your covering letter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong> 15 April 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SERI is one of South Africa\u2019s leading human rights organisations and is internationally recognised for its award-winning work.
