They\u00a0achieve their\u00a0aims through research, advocacy, campaigning, popular education and strategic litigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Political Systems Researcher<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong>Cape Town.<br \/>\n<strong>Start date:\u00a0<\/strong>Early May 2020<br \/>\n<strong>Remuneration:<\/strong> R19\u00a0000 per month<br \/>\n<strong>Reports to:<\/strong> Director<br \/>\n<strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Conduct research, monitor developments, and liaise with various stakeholders to further the portfolio\u2019s work, with a focus on political party funding, access to information and intra-party democracy.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with stakeholders including political institutions, politicians, the IEC, government departments, Parliament and other organisations.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in developing strategic vision and direction for the portfolio in conjunction with the Director and MVC team.<\/li>\n<li>Produce research reports, op-eds, submissions, infographics and other written material.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with developing content for MVC\u2019s electronic media channels.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct workshops and seminars for MVC\u2019s stakeholders and partners in civil society.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with journalists and take part in interviews with the media.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and maintain partnerships with civil society, academic and community organisations focusing on similar work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Must be a South African citizen or permanent resident with a university qualification (minimum Honours, Masters preferable) in politics, public policy, law or another relevant field.<\/li>\n<li>An interest in South African politics and stay up to date with current political events.<\/li>\n<li>An ability to produce written material that is coherent and analytical.<\/li>\n<li>Research experience with an ability to convey complex issues in understandable formats.<\/li>\n<li>An understanding of the South African civil society social justice environment will be beneficial, but is not required.<\/li>\n<li>Strong inter-personal, facilitation, presentation and time management skills.<\/li>\n<li>Able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders and to represent MVC at stakeholder events.<\/li>\n<li>An ability to work independently and within a team.<\/li>\n<li>Be flexible at times to accommodate for work outside normal office hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Submit a CV (maximum three pages), cover letter (maximum two pages), current contact details of at least three referees, and your university academic transcript to<strong> <a href=\"mailto:info@myvotecounts.org.za\">info@myvotecounts.org.za<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0quoting:\u00a0\u201cPolitical Systems Researcher MVC 2020\u201d in the subject line.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Friday, 17 April, 2020<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My Vote Counts (MVC) is a non-profit organisation that aims to improve the accountability, transparency and inclusiveness in South Africa\u2019s political and electoral systems.
