They\u00a0are achieving this goal through collaboration and strategic partnerships with education innovators that share our vision and can contribute to school excellence in creative ways.<\/p>\n<p>They\u00a0have a particular focus on improving early literacy and fostering a love of reading among learners from disadvantaged communities, understanding that access to books and excellence in reading is a critical underpinning of educational success.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: School Librarian<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location<\/strong>: Cape Town<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this poaition is to find a person that will help them in the\u00a0in the process of opening a library at Walmer Estate Primary School in Cape Town &#8211; the Protea Library. They are looking for a person\u00a0with a passion for books, children and learning to run the Protea Library.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ability to work well in a team as well as on your own<\/li>\n<li>A good, friendly and patient attitude<\/li>\n<li>Experience with working in schools or with young children<\/li>\n<li>Proven experience in using computers and basic IT programmes<\/li>\n<li>Good communication skills<\/li>\n<li>The ability to multitask<\/li>\n<li>Good organisational skills<\/li>\n<li>A love of children and reading<\/li>\n<li>Creativity and enthusiasm<\/li>\n<li>The responsibilities for this position include:<\/li>\n<li>Developing, organizing and updating the library inventory (via the LIBWIN system)<\/li>\n<li>Handling requests by learners<\/li>\n<li>Guiding learners and teachers in finding reading and research materials<\/li>\n<li>Preparing library lessons<\/li>\n<li>Updating display boards and book displays<\/li>\n<li>Organise reading activities and promotional events e.g. author readings, storytelling<\/li>\n<li>sessions and book sales<\/li>\n<li>Supervise library assistant, intern or any other staff<\/li>\n<li>Manage and replace library stock, stationery or other equipment<\/li>\n<li>Oversee the library to ensure cleanliness, order and protection of library resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Send your CV and a one-page motivation letter to <strong><a href=\"mailto:info@ottofoundation.org\">info@ottofoundation.org<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> Monday, 27 April, 2020<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Otto Foundation is an education-focussed philanthropic organisation established in 2016.
