{"id":54037,"date":"2020-04-22T19:23:54","date_gmt":"2020-04-22T17:23:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=54037"},"modified":"2020-04-22T19:23:54","modified_gmt":"2020-04-22T17:23:54","slug":"listed-credit-analyst-at-rory-mackie-associates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/listed-credit-analyst-at-rory-mackie-associates.html","title":{"rendered":"Listed Credit Analyst at Rory Mackie &#038; Associates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This person is responsible, as part of a team, for all aspects of the credit analysis process across counterparties and industries predominantly in the listed debt space.<\/p>\n<p>Customers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Investment team, with the focus being the Listed Credit Team<\/li>\n<li>Listed Credit Committee<\/li>\n<li>Borrowers\/investee companies<\/li>\n<li>Clients invested in funds<\/li>\n<li>Portfolio Managers and the Dealing Desk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accounting, Finance, Investments, Risk Analysis and Risk Management<\/li>\n<li>Focused financial industry research and analysis<\/li>\n<li>Fundamental research of leading publicly listed companies with a view to producing and maintaining a comprehensive investment case<\/li>\n<li>In-depth financial statement analysis<\/li>\n<li>Building of financial models<\/li>\n<li>Communication of findings and recommendations<\/li>\n<li>Detailed investment analysis (including an assessment of financial, operational, management, competitive, industry, governance, environmental and social factors)<\/li>\n<li>Proposal of investment recommendations regarding new listed bond and money market instruments<\/li>\n<li>Review of existing transactions to assess evolving risks and rewards, and recommend if our client funds should continue to hold the investment, buy more, or sell<\/li>\n<li>Analysis of legal documentation, including performing a commercial review of key terms and conditions for appropriateness<\/li>\n<li>Working with internal and external legal advisors to ensure adequate protections are captured in the legal documentation<\/li>\n<li>Development of proposals for appropriate risk-adjusted pricing, and working with the dealing desk in the pricing and valuation of listed bond instruments<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring of pricing and issuance trends in listed debt auctions to inform the broader investment decision making process<\/li>\n<li>Develop with the team, and subsequently maintain, internal relative value pricing databases<\/li>\n<li>Global and local, as well as, industry specific research and analysis<\/li>\n<li>Participation in ad-hoc projects (related to listed bonds, process improvements, ASISA initiatives etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Regular contact with borrower management teams, rating agencies, deal originators, legal advisors, internal portfolio managers, ASISA, the JSE and other stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Developing and maintaining counterparty and arranger relationships<\/li>\n<li>Deal origination, including sourcing transactions via reverse enquiry<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance of all investment related data<\/li>\n<li>Participation in valuation processes, Listed and Unlisted Credit Committees and other internal team meetings<\/li>\n<li>Participation in client investor presentations, discussions and report backs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications and Experience required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least two years prior asset management or banking experience in credit analysis (preferably listed credit), deal implementation, monitoring and instrument valuations<\/li>\n<li>CA (SA) and\/or CFA candidate or similar is strongly preferred<\/li>\n<li>Financial Accounting, Economics or Financial Analysis up to a 3rd year level<\/li>\n<li>Strong commercial and analytical focus with a passion for investments<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy (MS Office, especially MS Excel) is essential<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Competencies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Critical thinking<\/li>\n<li>Meticulous attention to detail<\/li>\n<li>Decision-making and judgement<\/li>\n<li>Displaying drive, purpose and initiative<\/li>\n<li>Collaboration and teamwork<\/li>\n<li>Assertiveness<\/li>\n<li>Articulate and confident<\/li>\n<li>Networking skills<\/li>\n<li>Excellent planning and organisational skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure and to multiple, tight deadlines and deliverables<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills (including verbal, written and presentation skills)<\/li>\n<li>Integrity<\/li>\n<li>Learning agility (curiosity and willingness to learn)<\/li>\n<li>Adaptability<\/li>\n<li>Negotiating skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This person is responsible, as part of a team, for all aspects of the credit analysis process across counterparties and industries predominantly in the listed debt space.
