{"id":54196,"date":"2020-04-29T15:40:57","date_gmt":"2020-04-29T13:40:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=54196"},"modified":"2020-04-29T15:40:57","modified_gmt":"2020-04-29T13:40:57","slug":"higher-education-and-training-health-wellness-and-development-centre-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/higher-education-and-training-health-wellness-and-development-centre-3.html","title":{"rendered":"Higher Education and Training Health Wellness and Development Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Higher Education and Training Health Wellness and Development Centre is an implementing agency of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in respect of health, wellness and development of students and staff at 26 public universities and 50 technical and vocational education and training (TVET) colleges, with some 400 campuses across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation is a national force for youth development, inspiring and enabling students to safeguard their health and wellbeing and pursue opportunities for personal growth and social responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:<\/strong><strong>\u00a010 Clinical\/Counselling Psychologists<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong><br \/>\nx2 Gauteng (based in Centurion and will assist with Kimberly, North West &amp; Upington), x1 Western Cape (based in Cape Town),<br \/>\nx 2 Eastern Cape (PE &amp; Mthatha), x2 KwaZulu Natal (eThekwini &amp; Majuba), x1 Free State (based in Bloemfontein), x1 Limpopo (based in Polokwane), x1 Mpumalanga (based in Nelspruit)<\/p>\n<p>The role of the clinical\/counselling psychologists is to conduct evaluations and treatment in order to diagnose and relieve psychological issues; these issues may be due to the mental state of students &amp; staff or the environment and situations he\/she has been facing. He\/she is required to also train, support and supervise lay\/peer counsellors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key responsibilities for this position include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clinical\/Counselling psychologists should have the ability to use psychological assessment to conceptualise, diagnose, plan and monitor therapeutic processes and outcomes by:\n<ul>\n<li>Using a range of psychological assessments, including systematic interviewing to establish the presence of clinical signs and symptoms of psychological distress<\/li>\n<li>Assessing the neuro-cognitive, personality and emotional functioning of students and staff<\/li>\n<li>Performing comprehensive mental status assessment in combination with the use of formal diagnostic classification systems for students and staff<\/li>\n<li>Diagnosing a broad range of psychiatric disorders and psychological disorders for students and staff<\/li>\n<li>Communicating effectively psychological findings to a variety of recipients in different formats<\/li>\n<li>Recognizing the need for further investigations and refer to other disciplines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Clinical\/Counselling Psychologists should have the ability to develop theoretical and aetiological formulations in order to:\n<ul>\n<li>Applying psychological interventions to students and staff with psychiatric, medical and neurocognitive conditions<\/li>\n<li>Performing a range of psychological interventions with students and staff based on a diversity of psychological theories<\/li>\n<li>Identifying, understanding and promoting coping with psychological distress and life challenges<\/li>\n<li>Identify psychological emergencies and intervene;<\/li>\n<li>Enhancing mental health functioning of students and staff<\/li>\n<li>Working in different contexts e.g. student community, medical and\/ or mental health settings and implementing appropriate evidence-based interventions<\/li>\n<li>Applying a range of intensive, long-term interventions as well as short-term, supportive, psycho-educational interventions.
