{"id":54333,"date":"2020-05-06T12:26:17","date_gmt":"2020-05-06T10:26:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/?p=54333"},"modified":"2020-05-06T12:26:17","modified_gmt":"2020-05-06T10:26:17","slug":"save-the-children-south-africa-scsa-recent-employment-opportunity-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistsouthafrica.com\/save-the-children-south-africa-scsa-recent-employment-opportunity-4.html","title":{"rendered":"Save the Children South Africa (SCSA) Recent Employment Opportunity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The purpose of this role is to build Save the Children South Africa (SCSA) as an evidence-based organisation with credibility amongst peers through producing quality research.<\/p>\n<p>The Research Manager will be responsible for developing, leading and supporting research projects within existing and new programmes and where necessary establish research and academic collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Research Manager<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>South Africa<\/p>\n<p>The Research Manager will also be leading and developing the organisation\u2019s research strategy as well as expanding SCSA\u2019s research portfolio to further SCSA\u2019s strategy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Key responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead the development and implementation of a strategy to build SCSA as an organisation that produces credible research<\/li>\n<li>Advise and support the development and implementation of the SCSA research agenda<\/li>\n<li>Assume responsibility in the development of concept notes and donor proposals to fund research projects in support of SCSA learning agenda<\/li>\n<li>Take the lead in identifying, fundraising and conducting research for new areas (innovation) for Save the Children SA in order to inform the organisation\u2019s strategy<\/li>\n<li>Provide support to projects in design, data collection, data analysis and report writing, covering operations research, policy research, baseline studies, surveys, literature review in support of the SCSA learning agenda<\/li>\n<li>Produce and coordinate the development and dissemination of publications (both peer-reviewed and non-peer reviewed), policy briefs and opinion pieces based on research and knowledge from SCSA<\/li>\n<li>To build organisational culture and capacity in the value, use, dissemination and application of research<\/li>\n<li>To improve organisational knowledge and understanding of children\u2019s development<\/li>\n<li>Take the lead on bridging the gap between research\/evidence and practice\/programming<\/li>\n<li>To develop and oversee research related systems for the organisation, including ethics, data quality assurance and managing intellectual property<\/li>\n<li>To establish strategic research and academic partnerships<\/li>\n<li>Support the dissemination and use of research and evidence in the organisation<\/li>\n<li>Represent SCSA at relevant research forums, such as conferences, with partner agencies \/ NGOs \/ government agencies in South Africa and elsewhere to influence the research agenda on children and contribute to knowledge in the sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Person Specification: Essential:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Masters Degree in a relevant field (a PhD or equivalent qualification will be a recommendation)<\/li>\n<li>At least five years\u2019 experience as a Researcher, with a good record of research publications<\/li>\n<li>Proven ability to work with large data sets and conduct quantitative analyses<\/li>\n<li>Excellent spoken and written English<\/li>\n<li>Excellent writing and presentation skills<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>Advanced competence in MS Word, Excel, and statistical packages<\/li>\n<li>Drivers license (manual)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge and experience in working in the Children\u2019s Sector<\/li>\n<li>Planning and\/or project management skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills &amp;
