This exciting role within the Johannesburg Children\u2019s Home (JCH) is aimed at ensuring ongoing sustainability and continued development of the home.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Child and Youth Care Worker<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong>Johannesburg<br \/>\n<strong>Employment Type:<\/strong> Part time<br \/>\n<strong>Reports to:<\/strong> Shift Supervisor<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the overall wellbeing of the children under their care by taking care of the children\u2019s physical, emotional, educational, and psychological needs. The CYCW will be responsible for eight to ten children at any given time, living together in a cottage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee all meals for the children by either preparing meals, collecting from the main kitchen and serve or oversee children preparing meals for themselves.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure effective timekeeping with children including bed and bath times, leaving for school, attending events playtime, and attending special meetings when required<\/li>\n<li>Ensure children attend school, study, and supervise homework.<\/li>\n<li>Administer medication when required<\/li>\n<li>Supervise homework,<\/li>\n<li>Collect all school letters and reports and hand over to relevant staff at JCH<\/li>\n<li>Attend to all clothing requirements of the children and assist with seasonal handover, mark clothes with nametags and sort laundry.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that children perform their household chores like:<br \/>\nwashing dishes<br \/>\npack away own laundry<br \/>\nmake their beds<br \/>\ntidy their rooms<br \/>\nspring clean on weekends<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that bed linen is changed on Sunday evening, heck children\u2019s cupboards and bedrooms and report all repair requirements to Maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Implementing of behaviour modification programme and disciplinary structures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CYCW qualification<\/li>\n<li>Passion for children and social development.<\/li>\n<li>Good people management skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure and remain calm in a crisis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>To apply <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please submit your CV and copy of your CYCW qualification in confidence to:<strong> recruit@jch.org.za<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline: <\/strong>Sunday, 5 July, 2020<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Johannesburg Children\u2019s Home (JCH)\u00a0is one of the oldest charitable institutions in Gauteng, which has provided a \u2018home away from home\u2019 and cared for thousands of children over the past&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1353,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[2246],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 -
