The future of Personal and Business Banking (PBB) relies on developing exceptional leaders who can keep our business moving forward. And we need to focus on our customers so we can introduce innovative products and services that benefit their lives, and ensure we always deliver exceptional customer service.

Our two PBB programmes focus on the future leadership of our business and the importance of our retail operations in giving our customers great service. Join us and you’ll enjoy a variety of experiences as you develop your skills and expertise and start to contribute to a major African bank.

On this programme you’ll develop your personal skills, while also helping us to meet important business needs. You’ll develop a range of skills and enjoy a variety of experiences that will enable you to create and implement strategies, improve performance and initiate big ideas that ensure that we remain a major force in African banking.

Once you’ve made it through to our final assessment centre, we’ll talk with you to identify an ideal placement that will enable you to perform at your best, taking into account your skills, qualifications and experience and our business needs.

Your programme will start with an intensive induction period, when you’ll start to learn about the technical aspects of the banking and finance industry. You’ll also start to develop essential skills that will equip you to strive to become a future leader in our business. Skills ranging from general PBB and business-specific knowledge to soft skills such as effective communication, personal branding, career management and presentations. Just as important, you’ll start to understand how much our business is focused on giving customers the highest quality products and services. And you’ll have the chance to network with senior managers and even executive directors from different parts of PBB and the wider group. As part of your induction, you’ll start to get involved with our community initiatives – an involvement you could continue beyond your programme, giving you plenty of time to make a significant impact.

Your induction will also introduce you to Standard Bank as a group and our South African operations. So you’ll get to know Customer Channels, Customer Offerings and Insights, Transactional Products and our back office operations including Credit, HR and IT. And you’ll develop a thorough understanding of how these teams support our growing retail networks. You’ll also learn about our heritage, our position in the South African economy, and how we support and improve communities in Africa. In fact your initial 4 – 6 weeks of training and induction will involve everything from classroom training and debates, to simulation exercises, practical project work and site visits.

Graduate Rotations and Training
