Candidates must be willing to take on the role for a minimum period of 2 years, starting as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Experienced Bookkeeper\/ Financial Accountant<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong>Cape Town<br \/>\n<strong>Role:<\/strong>Experienced Bookkeeper\/ Financial Accountant<br \/>\n<strong>Reporting to:\u00a0<\/strong>Director of SAEP<br \/>\n<strong>Opportunity closing date:\u00a0<\/strong>Tuesday, 4th August 2020<br \/>\n<strong>Opportunity type:\u00a0<\/strong>Employment<\/p>\n<p>SAEP is looking for an energetic, organised and experienced bookkeeper \/ financial accountant who follows a systematic and consistent approach to bookkeeping and reporting. We need someone who is experienced in non-profit work, hard-working, eager to learn and interested in the education environment. Candidates must be willing to take on the role for a minimum period of 2 years, starting as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overall objectives of the role<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Financial record keeping is accurate and complete<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the financial systems, policies and procedures are in place and are adhered to<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the organisation has an annual, realistic and approved budget in place before the start of the new year<\/li>\n<li>Monitor the annual budget and report on variances<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that Board and staff members are informed about the organisation\u2019s financial situation at all times<\/li>\n<li>Ensure financial and tax compliance according to legislation.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor cash flow and inform relevant departments<\/li>\n<li>Assist Fundraising with financial donor information and reports<\/li>\n<li>Ensure good relationships with financial stakeholders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications and skills required<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accounting degree, preferably B.Com.<\/li>\n<li>Essential requirements:\n<ul>\n<li>At least 3 years of experience in bookkeeping and accounting, with responsibility for routine financial tasks as well as financial reporting and budget preparation<\/li>\n<li>Excellent computer literacy, including advanced Excel competency<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of QuickBooks, or similar system<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of VAT submission process and SARS e-filing<\/li>\n<li>Good verbal and written communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Planning and time management, and ability meet deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Accuracy and attention to detail<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Experience working in financial management in the non-profit sector<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Daily bookkeeping<\/li>\n<li>Filing and organising accounting records<\/li>\n<li>Manage petty cash<\/li>\n<li>Review monthly management accounts<\/li>\n<li>Manage restricted funding<\/li>\n<li>Set up and authorise payments<\/li>\n<li>Prepare annual budget and presentation for Director and Board<\/li>\n<li>Monitor budget vs actual each month<\/li>\n<li>Prepare monthly report for Director and Board and present at board meetings<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and manage cash flow<\/li>\n<li>Work with programme managers and coordinators to understand and manage programme costs<\/li>\n<li>Prepare files and documentation for auditors and attend to audit queries<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and complete relevant SARS, VAT, UIF and other filings<\/li>\n<li>Manage the payroll and related matters<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with fundraising and prepare financial information required by external funders<\/li>\n<li>Manage relationships with banks and all banking activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit CV, qualifications, and cover letter, no longer than three pages, outlining your motivation and relevant experience for the role.
