CHOC aims to save lives through early detection and making the journey of those who are affected by childhood cancer, less burdensome through the comprehensive support programmes they offer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Regional Manager (RM)\u00a0for CHOC Free State &amp; Kalahari<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Bloemfontein.<br \/>\n<strong>Remuneration:<\/strong> in the range of R336 000 \u2013 R360 000 per annum, pension fund and medical aid benefits.<br \/>\n<strong>Report To:<\/strong> Chief Executive Officer<br \/>\n<strong>Start Date:\u00a0<\/strong> 1 October 2020<\/p>\n<p>The overall purpose of the post is to lead and manage the region, including to raise funds, raise awareness of childhood cancer, and promote CHOC and its programmes. The region serves the Universitas Academic Hospital, Netcare Universitas and offer services at the Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital in Kimberley. The region covers the Free State area as well as \u00a0parts of the Northern Cape Province.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strategic leadership and management:\n<ul>\n<li>Develop the region by identifying growth opportunities, gaps, and lead initiatives to address inadequacies or develop improvements.<\/li>\n<li>To lead relationships with clients (such as the doctors, beneficiaries and volunteers), and partners, and to generally be seen as a leader in the childhood cancer field.<\/li>\n<li>Look after and develop existing donor, key and other strategic relationships; as well as identify, maintain and develop new strategic and key partnerships and relationships.<\/li>\n<li>Together with the Regional Committee Chair develop the Regional Committee.<\/li>\n<li>Bring needs, challenges, and strategic regional matters to the CEO and also provide him with necessary and relevant feedback and solutions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Fundraising, campaigns and donor relationships:\n<ul>\n<li>Maintaining and improving existing business development relationships \u2013 be they corporate, individuals, or other.<\/li>\n<li>Using networks, platforms, forums and so on, to build the CHOC brand, and our network and relationships.<\/li>\n<li>To cultivate and deepen relationships and partnerships with donors\/supporters.<\/li>\n<li>To identify regional fundraising opportunities, events and campaigns and ensure the successful implementation thereof.<\/li>\n<li>To promote and market CHOC through various platforms and activities (including the media, social media, communication channels and material, and promotional events).<\/li>\n<li>To oversee the management of fundraising and other systems, including the CRM (donor and data management).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Networking and volunteer mobilisation:\n<ul>\n<li>To manage and develop strategic relationships, including the Department of Health, hospital management, hospital staff and organisations working in the field of childhood cancer.<\/li>\n<li>To facilitate the development of committees, such as the regional committee, parental support groups, c, survivor groups, etc.<\/li>\n<li>To oversee the volunteer programme, including recruitment, training and maintenance of the volunteer programme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Staff management and programme management:\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that staff is managed well and guided on their respective roles.<\/li>\n<li>Manage CHOC\u2019s Core programmes to the required standards. These are the accommodation facility, the transport fund, the volunteer management programme and practical support.<\/li>\n<li>To assist the national leaders with the regional implementation of national programmes, such as the Awareness training programme and psychosocial support.<\/li>\n<li>To manage and oversee other programmes as determined by CHOC\u2019s strategic plan and Executive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Financial, office and general management:\n<ul>\n<li>To develop a realistic and achievable annual regional budget and to manage the budget according to CHOC\u2019s Financial policies.<\/li>\n<li>To oversee the administration of the region.<\/li>\n<li>To ensure that all CHOC policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to.<\/li>\n<li>To ensure submission of accurate and timeous reports \u2013 financial, program and operational.<\/li>\n<li>To undertake other post related duties as requested by the CEO.<\/li>\n<li>To undertake all responsibilities and tasks embracing CHOC\u2019s values, ethos and behaviours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>REQUIREMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Qualification:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>A related degree or tertiary qualification<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Experience and skills:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>At least 5 years\u2019 experience in general management, preferably in the NGO or health sector.<\/li>\n<li>Experience and proven ability to fundraise, and\/or experience in marketing.<\/li>\n<li>High computer literacy, particularly in MS Office; and preferably in database systems (CRM), donor portals and social media platforms.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is essential, as well as fluency in in Afrikaans or Sotho.<\/li>\n<li>Strong management and organisational skills.<\/li>\n<li>Good with figures and a basic understanding of accounting, financial management and reporting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Attributes:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>A natural leader<\/li>\n<li>A team player who also works well independently<\/li>\n<li>Clear and strong alignment with CHOC\u2019s mission and values<\/li>\n<li>A highly motivated individual with a willingness to take initiative and responsibility<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Other:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>A valid unendorsed South African driver\u2019s licence is essential.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preference:<\/strong><br \/>\nAn understanding of the NGO sector and the fundraising sector is an advantage.<br \/>\nWell networked and the ability to network.<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>To apply <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit your CV with the names and contact details of at least two recent referees to reach <strong><a href=\"mailto:vacancies@choc.org.za\">vacancies@choc.org.za<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong>\u00a021 August 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CHOC is a non-profit organisation made up of caring, committed and passionate people who stand up for and support the well-being of children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer or life&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1353,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[182],"tags":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.5 -
