This care includes counselling, treatment for physical trauma, prevention of pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases and the careful gathering of forensic evidence.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Social Worker<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong>Benoni<br \/>\n<strong>Employment type:<\/strong>\u00a0Fixed Term Contract &#8211; 1 September 2020 to April 2021<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Client case work and Administration:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct psycho social assessment session with new clients, compile assessment reports, closing summaries and process notes<\/li>\n<li>Compile and submit VEP services and community outreach statistics for the Department of Social Development<\/li>\n<li>Record keeping of statistics and client files<\/li>\n<li>Schedule appointments for counselling and diaries the dates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Training:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend monthly training<\/li>\n<li>Attend training facilitated by the Department of Social Development and Community of Safety<\/li>\n<li>Attend trainings aimed at acquiring CPD points as per the SACSSP\u2019s expectations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Therapeutic Counselling:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Trauma debriefing for robbery, hijacking and other trauma related cases<\/li>\n<li>Individual and group therapy for victims of rape and domestic violence<\/li>\n<li>Bereavement counselling, telephonic debriefing for suicidal clients, conduct case management for internally referred clients<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Supervision:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend case conference to discuss new cases, consultation to supervisor when handling challenging cases<\/li>\n<li>Arrange for supervision with the Chief Social Workers on the case management files allocated to you<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community Based Outreach and Networking:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct community outreach programmes and awareness campaigns about rape and domestic violence<\/li>\n<li>Submit information for referral purposes and forward relevant information to other stakeholders for updates<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with other professionals such as psychologists, psychiatrists, SAPS, Government Welfare Agencies and NGO\u2019s involved in the criminal justice system<\/li>\n<li>Refer clients to relevant internal and external stakeholders for further intervention such as shelters and court preparation<\/li>\n<li>Build up comprehensive resource list<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Networking and Referrals:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Liaise with other professionals such as psychologists, psychiatrists, SAPS, Government Welfare Agencies and NGO\u2019s involved in the criminal justice system<\/li>\n<li>Refer clients to internal and external stakeholders for further intervention such as shelters and court preparation<\/li>\n<li>Build up comprehensive resource list<\/li>\n<li>Research other shelters where clients who do not meet the criteria of iKhaya le Themba can be placed<\/li>\n<li>Conduct case management on cases referred internally, telephone follow up with clients on internal services received<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Meetings:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend VEP forum meetings, attending general staff meetings with iThemba Chief Social Worker, Centre Manager and other meetings as per schedule with the Professional Service Director<\/li>\n<li>Attend and participate in the Annual General Meeting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>South African Citizen or holds a South African Work permit<\/li>\n<li>Social Work qualification<\/li>\n<li>Registers with the SACSSP<\/li>\n<li>Current proof of payment for the year 2020\/2021 with the SACSSP<\/li>\n<li>Minimum five years of experience working as a Social Worker<\/li>\n<li>Be familiar with the South African Social Worker legislative requirements including Covid-19 rules<\/li>\n<li>Computer proficiency<\/li>\n<li>Certified ID Copy<\/li>\n<li>Contactable references<\/li>\n<li>Proof of qualifications<\/li>\n<li>SACSSP registration certificate<\/li>\n<li>Valid driver\u2019s licence with driving experience of at least 5 years<\/li>\n<li>Certified copy of the driver\u2019s licence<\/li>\n<li>Criminal vetting certificate<\/li>\n<li>Meticulous, organised and deadline driven<\/li>\n<li>Report writing skills<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge in Supervision<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of legislations related to VEP programme<\/li>\n<li>Ability to interact comfortably and effectively with people from different backgrounds.<\/li>\n<li>Writing, communication and language skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work with team and without supervision<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit updated CV with certified attachments to <a href=\"mailto:cm@ithembasupport.org.za\">cm@ithembasupport.org.za<\/a>\u00a0or drop your CV at iThemba main office or iThemba at 119 Mowbray Avenue, corner Russel Street, Western Extension, Benoni.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline: <\/strong>Friday, 28 August, 2020<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The iThemba rape and trauma support centre is a Nonprofit organisation, dedicated to offering comprehensive care for the survivors of traumatic events, as well as their family and friends.
