They\u00a0use investigative research, advocacy and the law to hold those people and institutions, who commit these human rights violations, to account. Open Secrets\u00a0exposes and builds accountability for private sector economic crimes through investigative research, advocacy, and the law.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Researcher \u2013 Investigations &amp; Advocacy\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong> Community House in Salt River, Cape Town.<br \/>\n<strong>Employment Type:<\/strong> Full time Position\u00a0for an initial one-year contract period (prospects for renewal).<br \/>\n<strong>Starting Date:<\/strong> Starting November 2020.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undertake detailed, evidence-based investigations into economic crimes that have resulted in human rights violations.<\/li>\n<li>Produce investigative reports as well as articles for our website and social media platforms. You will need to write well, dig down into detail and engage in investigative research that at times is risky, but always serves the public interest.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to our advocacy efforts in getting the message out and collaborate closely with our legal team in developing a legal strategy to hold corrupt institutions and individuals to account.<\/li>\n<li>Collaboration is key, and we expect you to work closely with our team as well as our civil society partners in South Africa and other countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong work ethic, a focus on detail, exemplary integrity and a commitment to social justice.<\/li>\n<li>A committed team player with an inquisitive mind who values collaboration and has an aversion to office politics.
