Ubuntu Pathways has an independent school with children in grades R-4. They are approach to education is progressive, co-constructivist and nurturing.<\/p>\n<p>The Ubuntu School is changing the status quo in education to create a culture of creativity and collaboration, fostering independence and supporting each child on their educational journey-while along the way, supporting each child and their family with their health and psychosocial support needs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Vice Principal <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Zwide Township, Port Elizabeth, South Africa<br \/>\n<strong>Employment Type:<\/strong> Fixed Term Contract<br \/>\n<strong>Remuneration:\u00a0<\/strong>Market Related,\u00a0Additional benefits such as medical aid, provident fund, funeral cover, life cover, additional annual leave days and study leave days are also offered.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the\u00a0position will initially lead and manage the school and as the school expands to more grades a Principal could be appointed. The position will report to Ubuntu\u2019s Executive Team. Ubuntu is looking for an open, flexible leader who aims to create a safe and supportive school environment. (S)He should promote inquiry based teaching and learning, curiosity, and play as central facets of the school\u2019s vision and mission.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve as vice-principal<\/li>\n<li>Lead and manage all daily and long-term responsibilities, including but not limited to:<\/li>\n<li>Leading day-to-day functioning of the school<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating academic and timetabling programs<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating and manage events<\/li>\n<li>Working with local leaders, teachers, staff, and parents to assure a consistent, high-functioning learning environment<\/li>\n<li>Conducting parent interviews and respond to parental needs<\/li>\n<li>Implementing and maintain Code of Conduct<\/li>\n<li>Implementing a system to monitor student progress, including maintaining accurate attendance records<\/li>\n<li>Managing the school\u2019s discretionary budget<\/li>\n<li>Managing marketing, public relations and advertising for the school<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating community development \u00a0programs<\/li>\n<li>Developing student leadership<\/li>\n<li>Managing student disciplinary measures<\/li>\n<li>Developing school curriculum with the support of an advisory team<\/li>\n<li>Driving and manage innovation, research, development and implementation of initiatives<\/li>\n<li>Working directly with the Education Capacity Coach to develop and adapt the school\u2019s academic\/operating models as required<\/li>\n<li>Managing all additional school activities, including but not limited to: transportation, health and safety policies, social services, and referrals<\/li>\n<li>Working with Education Capacity Coach to manage professional development and accountability procedures for staff<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recognized degree and\/or 4-year post-matric Teaching Qualification<\/li>\n<li>Minimum 5 years teaching and management experience in a similar type of position in a similar environment<\/li>\n<li>Experience and\/or willingness to lead constructivist learning activities (e.g. project-based, play-based, or inquiry based \u00a0learning) in an early-primary education context<\/li>\n<li>Experience in a leadership role in an educational environment (note: prior experience as a vice principal is not required)<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with children<\/li>\n<li>Ability to motivate and deal empathetically at all levels<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills with colleagues, students and parents<\/li>\n<li>Ability to be energetic, self-motivates and use own initiative<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work as a team player<\/li>\n<li>Excellent organization, administrative and project management skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong verbal and written communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Conflict management skills<\/li>\n<li>An innovative and creative outlook<\/li>\n<li>Comfort with experimentation and pushing the status quo<\/li>\n<li>Comfort with the ambiguity inherent in a start-up environment<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy<\/li>\n<li>SACE Registration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Send your CV via Email to:<strong> <a href=\"mailto:jobs@panlila.co.za\">jobs@panlila.co.za<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Please do not contact or forward your application directly to Ubuntu Pathways.\u00a0 Make use of\u00a0the above contact information.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Make sure that your save your CV under your name AND surname.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that you type the name of the job\/position that you are applying for the &#8220;subject&#8221;
