We use investigative research, advocacy and the law to hold private corporations and individuals who commit these human rights violations, to account.<br \/>\nSee more at:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.opensecrets.org.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.opensecrets.org.za<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>|\u00a0Twitter: @OpenSecretsZA\u00a0| LinkedIn: Open Secrets ZA<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Intern &#8211; Investigations &amp; Advocacy<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Cape Town<br \/>\n<strong>Contract Period: <\/strong>Starting November 2020 for a six-month contract period based at Community House in Salt River, Cape Town.<br \/>\n<strong>Remuneration: <\/strong>R10,000.00 per month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Primary Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undertake research on historic and contemporary economic crime in South Africa. Read, summarise and archive research material.<\/li>\n<li>Write reports and related occasional articles for our website and social media platforms.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in managing advocacy around Open Secrets\u2019 investigations and litigation, including producing content for Open Secrets\u2019 social media platforms and website.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with our partners in civil society.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to other Open Secrets work areas as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ideal Candidate:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong work ethic (thorough, thoughtful and able to manage deadlines), integrity and a demonstrated commitment to social justice.<\/li>\n<li>A committed team player with an inquisitive mind who values collaboration.<\/li>\n<li>Ongoing or completed postgraduate studies in a related field (politics, history, economics, journalism, etc.) are preferable.<\/li>\n<li>Strong research, writing and organisational skills.<\/li>\n<li>Strong command of basic Microsoft Office Suite programmes (Word, Excel, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Able to work through an intersectional lens.<\/li>\n<li>Historically disadvantaged applicants are encouraged to apply.<\/li>\n<li>Eligible to work in South Africa.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Open Secrets team is working remotely until the end of 2020.
