We work through networks and collaborations, and incubate and create new initiatives where there are gaps.<\/p>\n<p>Our mission is to amplify women\u2019s movements, influence governance, and promote women\u2019s contributions and leadership in the economic, social, and political development of Africa; and advocate for the protection of children\u2019s rights and dignity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Internship (Project\u00a0Coordinator for Women&#8217;s Rights)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>South Africa<br \/>\n<strong>Employment Type:<\/strong> \u00a01 November 2020 \u2013 30 May 2021 with potential for extension.<br \/>\n<strong>Remuneration:<\/strong> National Level Office Internship<br \/>\n<strong>Reports to: \u00a0<\/strong>Women in Finance Network aka New Faces New Voices (NFNV) South Africa Chapter Lead<\/p>\n<p>The Gra\u00e7a Machel Trust works across the continent on three issues: women\u2019s rights, children\u2019s rights, and governance and leadership.\u00a0 We catalyse action, support local initiatives, lend solidarity and offer support where it is needed. We work through networks and collaborations, and incubate and create new initiatives where there are gaps.<br \/>\nOur mission is to amplify women\u2019s movements, influence governance, and promote women\u2019s contributions and leadership in the economic, social, and political development of Africa; and advocate for the protection of children\u2019s rights and dignity.<\/p>\n<p>The Women\u2019s Economic Advancement Programme unit advances the work of the Gra\u00e7a Machel Trust in driving the economic advancement of through an enterprise development initiative to build their management and leadership capacity to grow their businesses.<br \/>\nThe Project Coordinator will be responsible for administering and coordinating project related activities and plans for the NFNV South African Chapter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"rteindent1\">In the identified project the NFNV Project Coordinator will, amongst others:<\/p>\n<p>Analysis for Capacity Development interventions for investor readiness<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct survey for women who participated in the WESA\u2019s entrepreneurship development program, Women Creating Wealth, (WCW) to identify who applied for investor readiness to determine type of funding institution; type product applied for; in what sector; lead time from beginning of application to final response; percentage of successes and failures and reasons etc:\n<ul>\n<li>Identify the technical support they received<\/li>\n<li>Identify the impact on their success or failure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Conduct an in-depth diagnostic analysis on each applicant\u2019s investor readiness profile\n<ul>\n<li>Decide what will be the best follow up process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Program planning with Women in Finance Network\/New Faces New Voices (NFNV) South Africa Chapter Lead(s)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead in the appointment of a funding specialist in-country to do a follow up on each of the entrepreneurs on their funding experience to understand the demand side challenges and remedial actions including a tailor-made investors readiness programme.<\/li>\n<li>Engage with the relevant financial institutions to address technical gaps to show our commitments and help build our relationship as partners with them to address some of their supply side issues to access to funding for women in South Africa<\/li>\n<li>Write up case studies and hold workshops on best practices<\/li>\n<li>Develop a programme to replicate and scale the programme with the rest of the entrepreneurs in the programme in the upcoming year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Documentation: Knowledge creation, management &amp; dissemination<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Document and share findings in a user-friendly format.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain knowledge of emerging best practices on enhancing capacity building interventions and enterprise development, including good practice examples, and guidelines through internal and external networks.<\/li>\n<li>Keep abreast of the latest trends and developments in addressing investor readiness related issues.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to team-wide communications and knowledge management and participate in organisation-wide events and discussions on related topics\/projects.<\/li>\n<li>Attending and participate in network update meetings, organizational reviews and planning as well as other meetings that relate to the work of the Women in Finance Network, NFNV South Africa Chapter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Education:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A minimum of a bachelor\u2019s degree in the Social Sciences, with a strong preference for degrees in Economics, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Political Science or related field<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some experience as a Project Coordinator is preferable<\/li>\n<li>Some experience in project management, from conception to delivery, is preferable<\/li>\n<li>An ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules and step-by-step action plans<\/li>\n<li>Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management<\/li>\n<li>Strong client-facing and teamwork skills<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with risk management and quality assurance control is preferable<\/li>\n<li>Some experience in women\u2019s rights<\/li>\n<li>Some hands-on experience with project management tools is preferable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Technical competencies (Knowledge, skills and abilities)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An understanding of the NGO sector<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of women\u2019s rights and issues of women\u2019s empowerment<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of networking and building partnerships with a range of individuals and organizations in the same field of work<\/li>\n<li>Good communication and writing abilities in English with the ability to produce clearly written reports<\/li>\n<li>Good research skills<\/li>\n<li>Experience in donor-funded project and events coordination<\/li>\n<li>Ability to use information and communication technology as a tool and resources<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and in \u201cvirtual\u201d teams, as of the implementation will be done solely by the network partner at country level<\/li>\n<li>Good MS-Office computer skills including data capture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Behavioural competencies (Personal Characteristics)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Organized: being able to be logical and structured, orderly and efficient.\u00a0 It also means being able to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines.<\/li>\n<li>Concern for quality: The underlying drive to ensure that quality is not comprised within the working environment. It includes the identification and maintenance of standards to meet the needs of the organization. This also requires attention to detail and achieving thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task. Work requires little or no checking.<\/li>\n<li>Proactive\/self-starter: Able to get things done, usually without being told or reminded.\u00a0 Being conscientious, assertive, persistent, and achievement-oriented.<\/li>\n<li>Integrity: Following moral and ethical convictions and doing the right thing in all circumstances.<\/li>\n<li>Flexible: Willing to make changes to the time, place and approach of the work to meet organizational requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Team player: Ability to cooperate and coordinate the work with others in a participatory manner in striving to achieve project or organizational goals.
