The organisation was formally registered\u00a0in 2014 and has made an impact in ensuring that South Africans are a step closer to understanding who pays for our politics and focussing on ways in which we can hold our elected representatives to account.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Director<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Location:\u00a0<\/strong>Observatory, Cape Town.<br \/>\n<strong>Employment Duration:<\/strong> 1 year fixed contract with option to renew<br \/>\n<strong>Start date:<\/strong> 01 November or negotiable<br \/>\n<strong>Reports to:<\/strong> MVC board<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the position is to find\u00a0an ambitious and self-motivated individual with a commitment to social justice, to lead a driven and dynamic team towards achieving My Vote Counts\u2019 (MVC) mission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and implement MVC\u2019s strategic vision and strategy in partnership with the MVC team<\/li>\n<li>Lead and manage the implementation of MVC\u2019s activities<\/li>\n<li>Ensure accurate financial management of MVC\u2019s financial resources (supported by an operations manager and accountants)<\/li>\n<li>Manage MVC\u2019s donor relationships, including writing proposals and donor reporting<\/li>\n<li>Present regular progress and updates to MVC&#8217;s board, organise quarterly board meetings<\/li>\n<li>Build and maintain MVC\u2019s relationships with our stakeholders in all relevant sectors<\/li>\n<li>Represent MVC in various fora, including engaging with parliament, political parties, government, civil society organisations, the media and our funding partners<\/li>\n<li>Support and manage the MVC team within an organisational culture that is just, fair and considerate<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for managing the performance of a small team, including recruitment where needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor\u2019s degree in law, political science, public policy, international relations or any other relevant social science qualification, with at least 3 years work experience &#8211; preferably in the non-profit sector<\/li>\n<li>Prior management experience &#8211; leadership position in a non-profit organisation<\/li>\n<li>Show demonstrable leadership ability and a commitment towards social justice<\/li>\n<li>Experience in financial management and budgetary oversight of an organisation<\/li>\n<li>Experience in leading inter-disciplinary programmes and human resource management<\/li>\n<li>Excellent research and writing skills<\/li>\n<li>Proven experience in donor\/funder report writing skills<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills<\/li>\n<li>Historically disadvantaged applicants are encouraged to apply<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Email your full curriculum vitae, a motivation letter, 2 reference letters and a sample of written work to<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:info@myvotecounts.org.za\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">info@myvotecounts.org.za<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please include \u201cMVC Director Application\u201d in the subject heading.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that only shorltisted candidates will be notified of the outcome of the process.<\/p>\n<p>For more about My Vote Counts, refer to<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.myvotecounts.org.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.myvotecounts.org.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/strong>Monday, 2 November, 2020<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My Vote Counts is a non-profit organisation that works towards improving transparency, accountability and inclusiveness in South Africa\u2019s political and electoral systems.
